Green Acres Event Center Wedding:: Candace and Preston

Match.com’s analytic department must be pretty incredible because Candace and Preston are yet just one more example of another couple who met on their site. Candace and Preston’s laid back personalities, love for travel and loyalty to friends compliment one another, and probably one of the reasons they were drawn to one another.

After running errands for the entire day after Christmas, both Candace and Preston were exhausted and decided to spend the evening in. Earlier in the day, Preston had convinced Candace to buy him one more Christmas present online.  She thought nothing about it. Later that evening, he ran upstairs to finish packing up a few things for work the next day, and after a few minutes returned coyly downstairs to Candace. She was lying on the couch when he slyly told her that he too had one more gift for her, and pulled out a beautiful diamond ring and asked her to marry him! Taken completely off guard, she said yes and the two spent the rest of the night celebrating and sharing the news with family and friends.

Their intimate wedding at Green Acres was exactly what Preston and Candace had in mind.  Because Preston’s travel schedule with Bosh is so encompassing, the two decided to aim for a a Thursday wedding with close family and friends in order to spend a long weekend with them.

Candace’s ivory satan gown purchased at the Wedding Shoppe was a perfect fit for the July day.  Molly Mcgarrity, a close friend of the bride’s, did Candace’s hair and make up for the day making Candace look radiant.

The beautiful summer blooms from Trader Joes and Sam’s that Leah Grover created, held up perfectly on the hot July day and looked stunning against the blue dresses that Candace’s bridesmaids wore.

Event123, an online Etsy shop, put together the simple stationary for the day and Ryan Paulaitis created the hand chalked boards for guests to admire.

Preston’s Calvin Klein suit from Men’s Warehouse was the perfect shade of gray and Ali and Ivy created a stunning corsage for his father in law and and the mother’s.

Because both Candace and Preston really wanted to make sure their guests felt welcome, they greeted their guests before the ceremony began and spent the first hour before the outdoor ceremony making sure everyone felt welcome. Their ceremony ended right before a band of storms came in making it romantic and intimate for guests. Sterling Catering brought out some of the very best dishes, chicken and sweet potatoes were some of the delicacies Preston and Candace added to their day.

Being with friends and family was really what this couple desired.  Having s’mores over the bonfire, drinking wine on the patio, eating great food together, and catching up with great conversation while celebrating their wedding day was the perfect celebration for them.

Candace and Preston, I was honored to be a part of your day, thank you for making me feel like a long time friend and for allowing me to be a part of your sweet celebration.

Minneapolis Club Wedding:: Mikaela and Nick

Being rooted in their love of languages, similar experiences in Europe, and firm commitment to helping others, Mikaela and Nick were destined to be together. The couple met on their very first day of orientation in Graduate school as they were both studying medicine.

At the meet and greet, Nick mentioned to someone that he used to live in Belgium and spoke French. Upon hearing that, the person blurted out; “oh my gosh, you have to meet this girl Mikaela, she used to live in France!” He circulated for a few more minutes until he met the girl named Mikaela and knew right then and there he had to figure out how to ask her out.

He decided on asking her to lunch at Brasa in North East Minneapolis and after a few hours of talking, they decided on another date the following weekend at the Artist Inspired Mini Golf at the Walker for their first proper “date”.

After dating for a few years, both Nick and Mikaela knew they wanted to marry and both went together to pick out Mikaela’s ring. Both had been anxiously awaiting its arrival and because Mikaela’s parents were coming from England, they wanted to show it off. The very next day the ring arrived and Nick told Mikaela he wanted to take her out for a drive. Although they were both very open about the proposal, he played it coy until they arrived on the very same bridge that they had shared their first kiss on three years earlier. On that cold, dark, December night on Lake of the Isles, Nick asked Mikaela to marry him.

Their July summer wedding day was quite the opposite of the dark cold night. Beautiful, sunny and hot, Nick and Mikaela were wed at the Minneapolis Club in downtown Minneapolis. With it’s dark wood and gorgeous intricacies, their wedding day was full of rich, classic elegance.Mikaela’s ivory, silk Martina Liana wedding dress from Bridal Accent Couture was stunning when aired with Nick’s black tux and bow tie. Her hair and make up done by Karli and Brianna from Eye Do fit the classic elegance style of the day.

Indulge and Bloom created a stunning array of blooms that looked incredible when paired with the silvery-gray Levkoff bridesmaid dresses.

Queen of Cakes put together not only a gorgeous cake for reception guests, but it also looked stunning against the classic rich dark wood in the club.Mikaela’s Tiffany wedding ring and Nick’s band from RF Moller when paired with the stationary from Minted added yet another personal classic touch to the day.

Friends and family danced the night away to the Bluewater Kings they tore the place down!

Nick and Mikaela, what an honor it was to be a part of your wedding day.  Thank you, it was an incredible honor!

      Reflections:: Vacation

This year I simply Can NOT wait for our family vacation.  Not that we are doing anything out of the ordinary, but it is a concentrated time that we are all needing together.  After 11 weddings and lots of family sessions on the calendar, I specifically did not take weddings or family sessions over 2 weekends this summer so I could regroup and get mentally ready for quarter 3 (my craziest quarter for the year!).  I can not wait to sleep in, not have anything on the calendar except laying by a pool, drifting down waterslides, being with good friends and family, and eating amazing food.  Hope you have a vacation planned soon to be able to do the same.  They are so worth it! Agreed?!!

Maple Grove Family Session:: Stolle Extended Fmaily

Getting together over Memorial Day is always a great joy. The Stolle family decided since they have not been together for a few years, they would document this stage of life with a photo session together.  They did an incredible job as it was SO hot and humid! They braved the elements together laughing and enjoying time together as a family. It was a joy to be with them!

Minnesota Country wedding:: Bekah and Jeremy

Their parents had been friends for years and their dad’s even grew up attending the same church. Becka knew Jeremy as the older brother her brothers would hang out with when they all got together, but she never considered dating him.  It wasn’t until they reconnected as families that Jeremy asked Bekah to go out with him.

They decided on Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud, and as they perused the gardens, they realized they had more in common than they knew.  They laughed and enjoyed their time together so much that they continued dating. Months later after realizing they both wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, Jeremy brought Bekah back to the same gardens. It was there he got down on one knee and took Bekah completely off guard asking her to be his wife.  A resounding yes and dinner at Cafe Renaissance followed! The morning of their June wedding it down poured, but the clouds broke later in the afternoon giving way to a beautiful warm (read HOT!) summer day! Bekah’s unique wedding ring from DJ Bitzan was intricately woven together and carefully hand picked by Jeremy. Bekah’s elegant lace dress  from David’s Bridal was a perfect match to Jeremy’s black suit and white classic tie from Halberstadt’s.  Her bridesmaids wore beautiful maroon dresses with lace sleeves that matched Bekah’s wedding dres The white blooms Bekah held from Stems and Vines in St. Cloud accentuated the classic look that she was going for. Her bridesmaids bouquets of reds and whites also added a pop of color against the rich green backdrop of summer. Friends and family members helped decorate the church and reception area with over 250 stems of Peonies hand picked and grown in Bekah’s grandmother’s garden.  Her cousin created each table number and signs for the reception site. Another family member built a table for the couple and the wooden sign that they used as a guestbook was also created by another one of Bekahs’ cousins. Jeremy and Bekah departed from their wedding day in a 1955 salmon Desoto owned by Bekah’s grandfather as friends and family waved goodbye. What a joy and honor it was to spend the day with this incredible couple.  I wish you both joy and blessings as you enter this amazing new adventure of marriage!
