Day Block Event Center Wedding:: Megan and James

Their good friends knew they might be a good match for one another and so both invited Megan and James to their Halloween Party in 2014.  Being that they were complete opposites, something just clicked as they were both intrigued by one another.  Megan and James agreed to go on a date with one another and the rest just seemed to follow!

Three years from their first date Megan was bugging James to take her out to celebrate. He begrudgingly agreed, but Megan wasn’t aware that James had been planning the evening all night.  He played into it will and suggested that before dinner they take a walk on the Stone Arch Bridge for an anniversary picture. After taking the photo, James said “that is the before photo” and then he got down on one knee and asked Megan to marry him. Then we took our ‘after’ photo. They then went and celebrated at Murry’s (which James had been planning on) after the proposal.

Megan and James are so laid back that they wanted their guests and friends to feel the same way on their wedding day.  They choose to do a Friday wedding at Day Block Event Center right in the heart of the city they love.  Wandering around Minneapolis on a beautiful crisp September day, they were able to capture all the love they have for one another and their friends.  Photos were done in Gold Metal Park, the Gutherie and around the Mill City area.

James looked dapper in his maroon tie and navy Ryan Secrest Suit from Macy’s and all the groomsmen complimented him in their BLANK suits rented from Men’s Warehouse.Megan’s Maggie Sottero dress from the Wedding Shoppe paired perfectly with the navy colored bridesmaid dresses that each bridesmaid picked out to wear that day.Stepahnie and Amanda of Onyx Salon and Spa created beautiful up-dos and make up for Megan and her bridesmaids .Showing off their love for decorating, James and Megan put together each bouquet and bouttinere for their wedding party along with decorating each table with an array of florals from Market Flowers.Megan of Megan Mary Events helped the couple plan their amazing day and set up all their DIY decor in the event space, which was incredible! The bride even made two incredible instillations by hand that acted as a backdrop for their wedding ceremony.Texas doughnuts from Hans Bakery created the most beautiful spread of for guests and Megan and James even had their own large one to share!  Friends and Family danced the night away with music and entertainment from Jimmy of Instant Request.  Pro Sound and Light’s Photobooth was even brought in as guests were able to enjoy a photo to remember the evening with.Because both Megan and James love Mexican food, it wasn’t surprising that they had a taco bar, chips and queso, and Margaratias as their speciality drink from Acapulco Mexican Resturant.

Megan and James, your day was perfect, and I was honored to share in it with you!  Thanks for making it so much fun and congratulations!!

Maple Ridge Farm wedding:: John and Jess

They had been friends since middle school and shared the same friend group since high school, but Jess and John didn’t start dating until three years out of high school.

Thinking he was asking Jess out, John asked Jess to a Wild game and thinking it was for all the friends, she asked her friend Kate to join them. The date wasn’t exactly what he had planned, so he tried again and asked Jess to go ice skating sans friends, and at that pont the two knew that things might get more serious.  A trip down to Texas where John was serving in the Army solidified that  they were both intersted in making it more official and began dating.

A few years later they were in the process of buying a house when Jess got an e-mail from her realitor saying that the couple needed to meet them at the house to sign more paperwork.  Thinking nothing of it, she made a call to John on the way over to the house to let him know she was on her way.  He cut her off quickly and she thought nothing of it.  Upon arriving in the dark at the house she found their realitor there waiting in the driveway and told her John was in the back of the house. It was the coldest day of the year, so she quickly turned the corner to enter their backyard, she found a candlelit walkway leading to John and knew what was happening!  Despite the bitter cold, John was waiting at the end of the path down on one knee!

Their August wedding day was a bit different than the day they got engaged, but many similarities remained.  The bitter cold was replaced with the August heat, and the dark nights were filled with sunny skies and the same sweet group of friends that they had known since 7th grade surrounded them as their wedding party!  Laughter, joy and relaxation filled their day.

Maple Ridge Farm, a quaint and beautiful venue in Taylor’s Falls, MN, held both Jess and John’s ceremony and reception.  Mindy, from Makeup By Mindie, made Jess and her bridesmaids look flawless and Haley from Synnova Studio created the most beautiful up-do’s for the ladies.

The bridesmaids all wore blush colored ankle length gowns from Azazie and when paired with the incredible pinks and green bouquets from Colleen’s Flower Cellar, the combination was beautifulJohn and his groomsmen all wore navy suits with navy ties from Milbern’s Clothing Company and when put up against Jess’s Maggie Soettro lace back dress from the Wedding Shoppe it was stunning.Divine Swine brought in the most perfect dinner for a barn wedding complete with BBQ chicken, salads and beans.  Something Sweet by Maddie Lu created a perfect cake for the day and family brought in sweets from Sam’s Club for guests throughout the night. One of Bellagala’s DJ’s kept the music going for the night, while guests were invited to partake in S’mores, games of corn hole, mingle on the outdoor lawn and share in a popcorn table for late night snacks while Greg Thunte captured evertyhing on video.

It was an incredible day and Jess and John, thank you so much for including me in it.  I was honored and wish you both so much happiness together!

Gorgeous!! Such a beautiful day for them! And I need that picture of my boys and nieces standing on the bench!! (Please email me for how I could buy that one??)

FIVE Event Center Wedding:: Andy and Cyndi

They were working together at a bank in La Crosse and after Cyndi was introduced to Andy, she was immediately drawn to him.  Not being the best time, in her mind, to start a relationship, she ignored the feelings and tried going about her weekly routines, but Andy kept coming to her mind.

After being trained in, their cubicles were so close, the two repeditaly flirted with one another and finally one night after work, they both went to happy hour with another friend from work.  After he left, it was just the two of them, and conversation just flowed. The following week they went disc golfing with other friends and finally one night after going to Wiener Fest (yes a real thing in La Crosse) Cyndi got the nerve to text Andy to meet her at a bar where she declared her feelings to him and the two have been inseparable ever since.

Almost 3 years later, Andy surprised Cyndi with a pair of tickets to a Packer game (their favorite football team!) as they were walking along one of their favorite walking paths in Eden Prairie.  As they entered a secluded part of the path, Andy then got down on one knee and asked Cyndi to be his wife! Shocked and overjoyed, she said yes and the two began planning their day.

Their August wedding day was held at Five Event Center in Minneapolis.  Those friends who joined them on their first dates attended along with family and friends to watch them tie the knot on the rainy day.  Amanda Lanzel, one of Cyndi’s good friends, made Cyndi look flawless while Fox Den Salon created a beautiful up-do for her.  The couple’s Shane Co rings were beautiful and paired well with Cynthia’s white and lace gown from The Wedding Shoppe and her shoes from DSW.

In between the ceremony and reception, Cyndi and Andy snuck away a few blocks to their favorite bar, The Herkimer, where every Sunday during football season they go to watch the Packers play.  It was a restful 20 minutes ( and a favorite part of the day) as the two shared moments of the ceremony and relaxed with a beer.

Each bridesmaid wore a different blush colored dress and the white roses and greens that Florals by Claire put together were a perfect touch when put up against the Calvin Klein suits from Men’s Warehouse.

Green Mill brought in a tasty meal of Chicken Marsala for guests while Instant Request kept guests dancing the night away.

Cyndi and Andy, you are such an amazing couple and it was an honor to spend the day with you and your families!  I wish you the best as you enter this new amazing stage in life!!

Keller Golf Course Wedding:: Mike & Molly

It was a perfect night for dancing.  Something Molly loved doing with her friends. When they got to the bar, she wasn’t looking for anyone in particular she just wanted to enjoy the evening.  That was when he saw her. Mike made his way toward the dancing brunette and asked to dance with her, and after chatting a bit, asked for her number. She gave it to him, and a few days later they went on their first date.

After dating for a while, Mike knew Molly would love a boat cruise trip for her birthday.  She thought something was wrong because Mike had been acting strange all night.  Not really knowing what Mike was planning, she asked if he wanted to go to the top deck of the boat. As they headed into the docks, and after chatting a bit, Molly noticed Mike holding his cargo pocket.  She asked what he doing and to her question he responded that he had a ring in his pocked.

      “You’re lying.” she responded.

But Mike was not lying and from there, he got down on one knee and proposed!

Their beautiful August wedding day was filled with glorious sunshine and friends and family who joyfully watched them exchange their wedding vows at Keller Golf Course in Maplewood.  Molly’s elegant ivory Essense of Australia gown from Raffine Bridal paired perfectly with the elegant lavender Bill Levkoff dresses her bridesmaids wore also from Raffine Bridal. Their beautiful summer bouquets with succulents, roses and orchids from Sweet Peas Floral were a perfect pop of color against the dresses.

Her flawless make-up done by Chris of Gunpowder and Gloss looked stunning and her up-do from Beau Monde Salon was beautiful.

Shane Co. provided the a beautiful diamond for Molly’s diamond ring, and her amazing shoes from David’s Bridal.  Mike and his groomsmen wore classic grey suits from with a pop of purple in their ties. Get Krafty with it, an Etsy shoppe, created the intricate wedding invitations and stationary.

Lancer Catering provided an incredible meal, while Buttercream knocked it out of the park with a delectable chocolate and Bailey’s cake.  The centerpieces on each of the tables contained succulents grown individually by Molly’s mom through the year and the theme continued as guests entered to find their seating.  Individual succulents with a name card attached help friends know which table to go to.

Guests danced the night away with music from Bengi of  Instant Request.  There was even a quick retreat outside for some night shots on the course.

Molly and Mike, you are such a fun couple.  I was honored to share such an amazing day with you, thank you for including me in it.  Congratulations!
