Eau Claire Country Club Wedding:: Bri and Nick

They met while at a party at a mutual friends house when they were finishing up their undergrad program at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Nick began poking fun at Bri’s height within the first five minutes of meeting her, but Bri in her full on sarcasm shot back and the two clicked. A few weeks later, Nick asked Bri out and they have been together for many years since.

Since they both graduated from St. Thomas, Bri continued to pursue her degree in Iowa, then moved on to podiatric medical school. Throughout the distance they remained close and after knowing he did not want to lose Bri, Nick eventually proposed to her!

Nick and Bri are pretty sarcastic people. There was a period in the beginning of their relationship where she didn’t know if Nick was being truthful or lying about something as a joke. So the two came up with a secret word that if the other person says it you  have to tell the truth. You can never lie on an “elephant.”

Their wedding day was full of beautiful as well as fun moments. Being that most of Bri’s friends had already gotten married, they were so sweet to help her day go just as lovely as she hoped it would be.

The two were wed at St. Raymond of Penafort Parish, a beautiful white church in the countryside. It was a beautiful summer day.

Because of the July heat (almost 90 degrees!) we headed indoors for formal alter photos. I loved the green background and the beautiful natural light in the sanctuary.

After the ceremony we headed to a super swank bar in downtown Eau Claire called The Livery. It was full of character both inside and out, and we had a great time utilizing the space.

The Eau Claire Golf and Country Club was a gorgeous space for photos both inside and out. The golf course was immaculate and the sunset proved to be incredible in the evening hours!

Bean bags with Bri and Nick’s teams (Vikings and Packers) was held on the patio while games of Hammerschlagen went on for all the guests proving to be it’s own source of entertainment!

We headed out for golden hour photos at exactly the perfect time. The summer sun reflected Bri and Nick in all their beauty and of course, I was squealing away at the both of them as well as the light!!

Being that Nick and Bri love to dance, they closed down the dance floor at so many of their friend’s weddings and the made sure all of them knew it and stayed on the dance floor! Kaleidoscope kept the party going with so many great hits and of course a Wisconsin polka!

Bri and Nick, what an honor and joy it was to spend the day with you. Please, when life slows down a bit, I’ll take that red wine and we can relive this incredible day. You both are a gift to your family, friends and those you pass along in life. I’m honored I was one of the lucky ones to be included.

7 Vines Wedding:: Matt and Mady

They had decided to go out for drinks with mutual friends and neither one knew they other. Matt and Mady instantly connected over similar interests. From that day forward they were together. Only a few years later Matt took Mady out to the St. Paul Grill for dinner and it was there he asked her to be his wife.

The entire day rain was predicted, but just as Matt and Mady did their first look, which included Mady giving Matt a scrapbook of all the activities they had done together since they had met, the rain stopped and the sun started to come out. Mady and Matt chose to do their ceremony at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Stillwater where Mady grew up and now where both of them live. Their ceremony was beautiful and full of emotion. My favorite part was when Matt saw Mady for the first time.

Mady looked stunning in her white dress from Diamond Bride that she had custom-made to fit her and her bridesmaids wore the most perfect two piece dresses, the top of cream satin and the skirts of rose tooling and were so much fun to be with. They were perfectly accented with green flower crowns.

Just Cuz salon gave Mady the perfect updo and most flawless make-up while her stunning gold diamond ring from Shane Co was the perfect amount of bling for the day.

From there we headed to downtown Stillwater for photos of the wedding party and Matt and Mady. We even got some shots with the new Stillwater bridge in the background.

Seven Vines proved to be just as lovely as ever. Rose Floral created the most amazing blooms for the day and proved to create a beautiful feel for the reception area. We headed out to vineyard at golden hour and where we got some of my very favorite photos of the day.

Matt and Mady, congratulations on your beautiful day. I wish you both ( and Peppo too) years of happiness and joy. Thank you for making me feel like a long time friend.

        Champagne… Not just for clinking

One of my very favorite things brides have asked about recently are champagne shots! Not only do they make for great wedding party photos, but awesome expression shots! If you decide to bring champagne and use it for photos here are a few tips::

        1. Buy the cheapest bottles, they are usually more fizzy and really all you are doing is shaking the bottle and letting it fly.
        2. Try, if you can, to do this shot after the ceremony. Typically champagne flies everywhere and with that it goes everywhere! The last time a bride did this with me, champagne went all over me and a few of the bridesmaids!
        3. Bring a few bottles. Chances are the first bottle won’t work as well as you hoped, and better to have another bottle to have more fun with
        4. Hype up the photo! Typically I prompt the wedding party to yell and shout as the couple is opening the bottle. Makes for great shots and really a LOT of laughter!
        5. Try to have the groom open the bottle. Brides, you probably don’t want to get anything on your dress, so stand back and let him do the work!

Just some tips for such great fun photos!

Refuge Golf Course Wedding:: Andrea and Jesse

Andrea and Jesse grew up one block away from each other. While they were always close friends, they also had the feeling that in some way shape or form, the two would end up spending the rest of their lives together. Eventually the two began dating and today was the day they said I do to one another!

Ninety degrees and humidity was predicted for their outdoor wedding, so the ceremony was moved indoors. Despite the heat, we took advantage of the beautiful summer day and wandered around the Refuge Golf Course for photos of Andrea and Jesse and their wedding party. All of them were such a joy to be with and so easy to photograph. I felt like we had all been friends for years!

Custom Floral Designs transformed the venue into the “rustic, outdoor feel” Andrea was hoping for which made the space beautiful. The sunset for the evening was spectacular and before heading back to the reception to dance the night away, we wandered the empty golf course for some photos of Jesse and Andrea alone. It was so fun to get away and celebrate the happy couple with their closest of friends!

Jesse and Andrea, it was a beautiful day to celebrate with you! Many blessings in the days ahead!
