Friday Fun: The Great Minnesota Get Together!

Yes, I have to admit, I am a lover of the Fair.

This is not just any fair, it is the GREAT MINNESOTA GET TOGETHER!

Every year Kevin and I go back and forth.  He thinks I am completely crazy to want to spend an entire day with thousands of other people roaming through the sheep and horse barns, eating anything on a stick, AND bringing my 3 kids along with me.   AND I am even crazier to pay over the top prices of food that will most likely clog my arteries and take over a week to burn off because of the calorie content.

To be honest, I really could care less.

Growing up, the fair was not just about the rides, the animals or the people, but more like a turning of the season.  It meant that summer was officially over and fall had to begin.  Back to writing papers, a routine, and a change in the weather.  It meant that snow was about 3 months away rather than 8.  It meant no more sleeping in, and a rigid day of schedules.  Quite frankly, it was something I despised and loved all at the same time.

This year it had the sme affect on me, but in a different way.  I am not the one going back to school, but my daughter.  She starts next Wednesday and I can not figure out if I am so excited or ready to break down and cry.  It is the turning of another season, another corner in my life.  One that I am ready to embark on, but scared at the same time.

So I’ll take those cheese curds, and ice cream and overpriced apples as long as it helps me to face the reality of a turning of the season.  (It just might take a few more trips to the gym this week to burn it all off!)  Happy Friday.

    Friday fun: real life

So this week unfortunately I have been neglecting the blog.  It has not been intentional, but life in the Feder home has become crazy.  This week we have been to 3 Kindergarten meetings (my oldest starts in 3 weeks!), my toddler figured out how to hoist himself out of his crib, and I have had 5 shoots and an unexpected wedding to shoot this weekend.  Needless to say, Friday fun is just keeping up!

I love the month of August, but to be honest, did not realize the chaos it would be!  I am hoping things next week will slow down and I can get my head back on straight!    Hope your weekend is filled with lots of joy and rest!

Friday Fun… trying to photograph my 18 month old

After running around for the morning and a bit of distraction, here is how I captured my 18 month old in all is toddler essence!

      Have a great weekend!

        Luca: Chicago baby

I love seeing friends.  We had the opportunity over July 4th weekend to see our very good friends Vince and Amanda.  They met us in Milwaukee and not only did we spend great time together (short, but sweet!), but we were able to get some 9 month photos of their little guy.  See HERE for his 3 month photos.

          Peters Extended Family

I was met by Pete and Angie with a big hug and kiss.  I would love to call this family my own, they feel like realities, but they are very dear friends.  I have known the Peters family for quite some time.  Kirsten and I graduated from college together, and I was able to shoot her and Josh’s wedding almost 7 years ago.  Shannon and Kieth were married about 3 years ago and her family flew Kevin and I out to New York to shoot their beautiful March wedding.  This past weekend they were all together in the Cities and we set up a time the entire family to be photographed.  They were all troopers in the humidity and heat, and I have to say I was sad to see them go…especially because Pete carried my bag around the entire shoot!
