Cotton Candy, good enough to eat

Spring is one of my favorite seasons, well so are summer and fall.  Leaving out winter, which I like less and less as I had kids.  But that is a side note…

The kids and I were out walking the other day, smelling the sweet aromas of the crab apple trees and the lilacs.  I pointed up to one of the trees.  Our conversation went like this:

Me: “Don’t the trees look like cotton candy?”

Lydia: “What’s cotton candy?”

Me:  “You know those giant pink balls of sugar we get at the fair?”

Lydia: “ohhh, yeaaaa… the trees look good enough to eat!”

      Reducing my carbon footprint

I have never paid much attention to Earth Day. I always thought it sort of hippish.  But as time goes on, and I learn more about what is going on, I am convicted to pay more attention to what I am putting into the earth, not only for my sake but for my kids and their generation.  Not only am I trying to conserve, recycle and reduce; I am trying to teach my kids the same thing.   Kaboose.com is a great resource that I use with my kids.  This week they are focused on Earth Day.  See HERE for their great web-site.

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has some great, easy ways to help conserve energy and help the environment.  Check out their web-site HERE and look for ways to get involved in your community.

        Happy birthday Ben

So yes, I will admit, I am so behind on posting photos of my kids.  But as a promise, I am posting more!  For Ben’s first birthday (in November;  yes I know it is almost May!) We did the cake and the boy demolished the piece that we gave him.  One of the huge differences that we have already seen is the way boys and girls do things.  Both girls picked carefully at their cake until they realized what it was.  Not Ben, he went full force into the thing and devoured it, every last piece!

Hope this ends your week off well.  I am back from vacation tomorrow and can NOT wait to post photos from the wedding.  A sneak peek to arrive on Thursday!!

        Easter, a bit late

So we did celebrate Easter, with eggs and all… 2 weeks ago!  While taking these I thought, “I have to post these on Monday so I will feel on top of everything.”  Did that happen, no… Oh well, I am still posting them!

I took these photos of the kids after the whole process of looking good and egg hunting was over.  I have to say this is the norm around our house after a busy Sunday.  We were all just relaxing and of course, the girls’ hair is a mess, but all natural!  Have a great weekend!
