How they look is today’s theme. We just recently had Ben’s hair cut which in my mommy mind, turned him from a baby into a little boy. I could not believe how just cutting his hair made him look so much older. His two year old expressions were priceless as he sat under the scissors unsure of what exactly was going on.

Sooo, a class that I can take on-line! I signed myself up early (like November!) so that I would HAVE to do it! Of course the time has come for it to be here and I am wondering why I signed up! But I knew myself all too well to know that if I did not sign up, I wouldn’t do it!
The assignment for the 28 days of Feburary is to document those that we love with a different theme each day. For the first day I have been assigned to photograph those I love (I chose my children as my main subjects) in what they do . So at 2pm today I finally had a minute to catch them in their true essence and what part of the day I love best. Nap time! Here’s to more joys and memories as the month continues.

Beautiful! So peaceful. Just looking at them relaxes me!
I love the trucks lined up…such a boy 🙂
It wasn’t rare to fine the two of them in the laundry room together, folding laundry or doing homework. In a two bedroom apartment filled with 5 college aged girls, it was hard to find any place that was quiet for a long period of time. And an apartment filled with 5 guys was was just out of the question. So they met in the laundry room. I’m pretty sure dates progressed over the course of months, but I knew that when the phone rang for Abbey and she was missing, I could usually find here there with her “friend” Brandon.
I was one of those five college roommates, and was also fortunate enough to get to know Abbey my freshman year of college. I have to say that over the years, she has become such a sweet friend to me, and I have marveled in the way her and Brandon do life, ministry and marriage together. When Brandon called to ask if I would be included in a gift to Abbey to celebrate their anniversary, I was thrilled. I love you both so much, and can not wait to see what 2011 brings you! I just know it is gonna be a good one.

So… every year I yearn to go to the ever coveted Wedding Photographer’s convention (WPPI) in Vegas, and have not been able to go yet once! Way too hard to leave my husband with 3 small kids and a full time job. Just not possible yet. So… this year I decided to join a Twin Cities organization (TCPPA) that meets on a monthly basis, which might be even better ( and easier) for me at this point in life!
The first meeting was last Monday, and I was just floored to find out that some of my favorite East Coast photographer’s ( Justin and Mary) were presenting. I was able to get in on a 6 hour presentation on exactly what I am aiming for in business this year. Relationships. It was perfect timing and a great night to be a part of! I can not wait for more of the year to progress and to learn more from these locally talented photographers!
In the mean time, I, like the rest of you Minnesotans, will be shoveling my way out of this crazy mess of snow and waiting for the days when Vegas will become a reality!
Happy Monday!

From their engagement session, to their wedding, to the birth of their first daughter and now to their second, it’s been a joy and honor to be able to photograph couples like the Wargo’s as their life changes.
It’s what makes my job so meaningful and fulfilling! Congratulations Hannah and Jake, your family is beautiful!
Including siblings in your newborn session… yes or no?
My answer is always yes.
It might feel a little chaotic in the moment, but those are often the images you end up treasuring the most—the real connection, the tiny interactions, the beginning of a new family story.
I’ve loved watching the Luong family grow through all three of their children’s newborn sessions, and those sibling moments are always some of my favorites.
If you’re wondering how it all works (and how we make it easy), I wrote a full blog post about it! Check it out in my stories
