Jim and Jennifer: Minneapolis engagement

It started with a concert.  He asked and she obliged.  Jim and Jennifer hit it off right away and they were like old friends.  Christmas came and Jim popped the question.  Jennifer was so surprised and of course said yes!  Jim has a history of hockey (he played for the Gophers for a short season), so we took to the ice for their engagement session.  I could tell what great friends these two were, and they were such a joy to be around! The two are planning a June wedding and I am so excited to work with this great, laid back couple!

    Tyler and Heather: Minneapolis engagement

They just love spending time together.  No matter what they are doing; watching a Twins or Royals game in which they are rivals, or a Iowa Hawkeyes game in which they would consider themselves ally’s.  The two met at a wing night while they were both at Iowa State.  From there a beautiful friendship emerged, and as I was photographing these two, I realized their friendship and love for other was contagious.  I am looking forward to sharing in the crazy, fun, beautiful day these two have planned for next June!

This awesome idea was totally Heather’s, and I just loved it!

      Jenny and Josh: Minneapolis engagement

It was a blind date set up by Jenny’s roommate, and they laughed the entire time.  “Josh is full of surprises,” Jenny told me as we met for coffee.  “He once showed up for a breakfast date in overalls and a hooded sweatshirt.”

I found as we were photographing their engagement session, she was not kidding.  I was laughing right along with them and felt as if I was with old friends.  Near the end of the shoot Josh pulled out the infamous overalls and brought his flare to the session.  I got a good laugh with them as he pulled out the 90’s gear (yes, I had my senior photos in overalls, just because they were waaaay cool).

I am looking forward to spending their wedding day with them come summer!

        Carrie and Mike: Minneapolis engagement

It had been a long day at work and now the dog was barking at the door.  Carrie was trying to relax but the dog continued to bark.   Eventually she gave up her relaxing moments and headed slowly toward her bedroom door to open it.  When she did she found Mike down on a knee with a ring in his hand.  Totally and utterly surprised, Carrie said yes!

I had such a wonderful time getting to know this sweet couple.  We had one of the warmest fall days, and they were great enough to endure through the noon hour in sweaters and fall attire.  I can’t wait to photograph this small and intimate wedding!

          Will and Amy: Minneapolis engagement

It was a beautiful spring wedding in Chicago.  She was a personal attendant to the bride and he a was the best man in the wedding.  They hit it off right away.  Although he was living in DC and she in MN, the two chatted daily over facebook and on the phone.  After 3 weeks of doing this, Will, who works for Delta, flew up to Minnesota to spend the weekend with Amy.  The two were inseparable and through picnics, Caribou dates, meeting family, the two decided to take their relationship to the next level, but deep down they both knew that this was “the one”.  After 3 months of dating and  a trip to Emerald Island,  Will got down on one knee and proposed!

I got to know this beautiful couple one rainy Saturday in October.  We had a blast exploring the Mill City area and the rain held off until the end of our shoot.

Amy and Will, you were made for each other, and I can not wait to photograph your beautiful December wedding.
