Doug and Lorelei: Minneapolis Engagement

It was a sweltering afternoon as I headed downtown to the stadium.  There was no game, but I was headed down to the field where thousands in MN come to watch the game of baseball, and I have to admit, I was so pumped!

Lorelei and Doug are Twins fanatics.  They are season ticket holders and know more statistics about baseball than I will ever know!  On a spring day Doug pulled out the ring and proposed to Lorelei who happily accepted.  It was only fitting that we head to the field to do their engagement photos there.  We had an hour to work with and used it fully from the stands, to the outfield and even to the dugout.  Here are a few from our session.

One of my favorites… so creative!

Looking forward to this February wedding!

Special thanks to Jessica who was our sidekick all over the field!  If you are looking to do a session at Target Field contact her at jessicadooley@twinbaseball.com.  She’ll take great care of you and show you some great inside places!

Friday Fun: My favorite places to shoot

Often when talking to clients, I am asked: “Where would you recommend we do the shoot?”  Although there are so many places in the Twin Cities to photograph, here are 3 of my favorites and why.

    1) Mill City/ Stone Arch Bridge area.  You want urban, you got it.  You want park, its here too.  You want unique, let’s find it!  I have to say that this is one of the MOST popular ares in the Cities to shoot at.  Every time I am down in the area, I kid you not, there  is at least one other professional down there with a family, senior or wedding party.  And there is good reason for it… there are so many places to shoot in all within walking distance.

    2) Loring Park/ Sculpture Gardens/ Walker.  Another place that has so many different areas all within walking distance.  Every time I go, I try to find another location to take my clients to, and I have not been disappointed yet.  It has an artsy feel, and there is an indoor conservatory and a the General Mills Hall in the Walker to go in just in case there is rain.   Plus, this location is about 10 minutes from my house.  LOVE it!

    3) Your home.   When a child is in his/ her home environment they are just so much easier to photograph.  They want to show you their toys and their room and the cute little dress or animal that grandma just bought them.  Plus trying to get out the door keeping everyone clean and neat for photos is sometimes very difficult (we have 3; been there, done that ).  Couples are sweet and beautiful in the space that they created and more of their personality shines through. Basically it is YOU!  and that is what I love photographing.

I’d love to do a shoot for you in one of these locations.  Let me know, especially while the Fall sale is going on!

      Tyler and Lisa: Minneapolis engagement

Tyler and Lisa met me for coffee, and instantly I liked them.  As an outsider I could very much see the way they respected and love one another.  Their love for one another was even more evident when i did their engagement session.  We all laughed a lot and enjoyed the peaceful spring evening.  I am looking forward to spending their wedding day with them in September!

      Dan and Carrie: Catalina engagement

When I went out to California, I got in on a little secret… Jody’s brother was going to propose to his girlfriend after the wedding.  And I got to do another round of photos on Catalina Island, this time with Dan and his wonderfully fun fiancee, Carrie! Because I wanted their photos to be totally unique to them, we found completely different places to photograph in.  (Plus, when you don’t have a white dress to worry about, it is much easier!)

I can not wait to hear of more wedding plans for this couple, a 2011 wedding is in the plans, and most likely will be scheduled for a destination we all love;  the Twin Cities!

Mark and Katie: St. Paul engagement

I had the privilege of meeting Katie at a wedding I was shooting last summer.  She was one of the bridesmaids.  I was beyond thrilled to work with her again when she asked if I would be willing to shoot her wedding!  I met her and Mark at her place on a windy Saturday afternoon.  They had chosen a place Katie was very familiar with and one that was special to them.  Her parents used to take her on walks around the beautiful campus of St. Kate’s in St. Paul when she was a child.  Now she and Mark walk their dog regularly around the campus.

Mark brought along his collector car for some of the photos. On their wedding day, they will be riding away in his dad’s beautiful white collector Porsche.
