closeI have been photographing the Sorensons for a few years now, and I am so glad I was able to see them and photograph their family for a fall family/ mini maternity session as they welcome their new little one this winter! What a gift it is over and over to see sweet families like this one! I hope to see them again this year with that new sweet little baby. Doesn’t running around in Minneapolis sound wonderful right now? Or at least going back to those warm days of fall when no coats, hats, or boots were needed? Well go back with me today with the sweet Fronden family. Karna has been one of my dear friends since college and from the time she and her husband were engaged, I have been doing photos for them every year! This year was such a sweet one as their girls are getting so big! I love seeing them and as you look through these photos, you can see their sweet personalities shining through!
Growing up in Minnesota I have come to love all of the seasons… well mostly. If my kids were to ask me what is my favorite season would be, it would most definitely be summer. Mostly because I love the heat, the long days of summer, the way our entry way is actually cleared of stuff, but mainly the ease of they way summer works. Fall, then spring come next and always in dead last comes winter.
But this year, I have been making my peace with winter. I have had a chance to rest. Really rest. The amount of events and shoots on my calendar goes from a full speed sprint, to a nice leisurely stroll. Mind you , I still hate the cold and negative temps and spastic snow storms, but slowing down has done wonders for me, my family and the business.
Taking time away from shooting has allowed me to do other things that I forget that I love. Reading, going out with friends and family, playing in the snow, cross country skiing again (yes, I used to ski competitively in high school!) cooking, snowshoeing, and getting my house ready for the next season of crazy has my blood pressure back to normal!
And so winter and I have made amends. We aren’t quite besties yet, but I am learning to grow in my appreciation for this season and maybe one day we will be even closer.
Happy March to you. It is the month that I try to do lots of spring cleaning and start prepping for my summer (bring on July and waterslides!!)!! I would love to see many of you this year! Oh I love this sweet Minneapolis family! A few years ago I was able to capture their wedding day and after their first sweet girl was born, I photographed her as well as her sister when she was born! Braving the cold, this sweet family met me at Hanson’s Tree farm in Anoka and they did not disappoint! We all kept warm while running through the trees and playing together! I love seeing sweet wedding clients again with their families and watching them grow over the years! If you are looking for a family session, I would love to get you on the calendar soon!
Including siblings in your newborn session… yes or no?
My answer is always yes.
It might feel a little chaotic in the moment, but those are often the images you end up treasuring the most—the real connection, the tiny interactions, the beginning of a new family story.
I’ve loved watching the Luong family grow through all three of their children’s newborn sessions, and those sibling moments are always some of my favorites.
