Laeno Family:: Mill City Museum Family Session

Oh how I love seeing Dawn and her sweet boys.  We met at Mill City on one of the craziest days! In the last few years, I have been thankful to watch them grow and welcome sweet Matthew into the mix.  I know I say this on almost every post, but I just LOVE my clients.  They are the sweetest people I know!

    Rebekah & Jeremy:: Otsego Engagement

    When their parents set them up, neither had in mind that an engagement would be happening in the future.  Rebekah and Jeremy’s parents had been friends for years, but because Jeremy was older than Rebekah, their paths rarely crossed.  It wasn’t until last summer that the two began dating and knew right away that their core values, sense of humor, and love for the Lord would bring them closer together!  I simply can not wait for their June wedding!

      Mini Session or Full Session? What’s the difference?

      Mini Session, full session, what’s the difference and why or how is one better for your family?

      I’m so glad you asked!  This is a question I regularly get asked about and I would love to share with you some of my thoughts and things I have learned over the years about mini sessions and why they may (or may not) be a good fit for your family.

      When a photographer refers to a mini session, most of the time they are referring to smaller session (15-30 minutes) that happen a few times a year, with the main focus being on capturing one main pose, say a family shot for a Holiday card, a milestone of a child or even an updated headshot.  Depending on the ages of your kids and your expectation of photos, mini sessions can be a great way to get those few pictures that you are looking for at a reasonable cost in short amount of time.

      If you are wanting multiple outfit changes, a few different locations, or have kiddos that take a while to warm up to new people, a full session might be better for you and your family.

      Also, mini sessions typically happen in the location that the photographer chooses.  (This is true of myself) and there are multiple families coming to that one location every 30 minutes for the day.

      If you are wanting to choose your own location or have the photographer come to your home to capture more of your family in their element, my suggestion would be to do a full session.

      Mini sessions can be a wonderful thing, and many of my clients rave about how quick they are especially when they have little people.  Husbands love them as well because they appease their wives and 25 minutes goes by when they are having fun and playing with their kids and of course, kissing their wives!

      If you are interested in a full or mini session, I’d love to chat.  I am offering seven different mini session dates in 2018 and would love to get your family on the calendar!  If all of these book, I may add more, but if you are a planner, now is the time to scoop these up! Allie and Joe:: A St. Cloud Engagement

          Being from the Brainerd lakes area, Allie, Joe, and I knew we had to find some place half way for both of us to meet for their St. Cloud engagement session.  Because they both love hockey (and played in high school) we knew we wanted to incorporate that into their winter engagement session.  So we chose a lake that was close to the downtown area and had been used for Hockey Day Minnesota the week before, Lake George.  The two showed off their skills to me as we shot on the ice and then headed over to a local park to finish off their session.  It was freezing cold outside, but Allie sported her cute navy and black dresses and braved the cold.  I love that we will be together for their June wedding and I know it will be MUCH warmer than this day!  I simply can not wait!!
