Darren and Laura; celebrating 6 years

Laura, Darren and I all ran cross country together back in high school, so it was surprising to me to run into the two of them together married! at a wedding I was shooting.  Laura explained to me that they really wanted photos to celebrate their 5 years together, but the time had gotten away from them.  They finally were getting around to it a year later!  I was so thrilled to spend time with these two 12 years later.  Running was not included, but some great shoes that Darren’s sister had gotten them were.  LOVED it!  Congrats on 6 years together and here’s to many more!

      Carrie and Mike: Minneapolis engagement

It had been a long day at work and now the dog was barking at the door.  Carrie was trying to relax but the dog continued to bark.   Eventually she gave up her relaxing moments and headed slowly toward her bedroom door to open it.  When she did she found Mike down on a knee with a ring in his hand.  Totally and utterly surprised, Carrie said yes!

I had such a wonderful time getting to know this sweet couple.  We had one of the warmest fall days, and they were great enough to endure through the noon hour in sweaters and fall attire.  I can’t wait to photograph this small and intimate wedding!

        Johnson family: St. Cloud Family

I had taken up a new endeavor my sophomore year of high school.  I wanted to try something that I had never done before so I could get the most out of my winter months.  I decided to take on the whole new world of cross country skiing.  Little did I know, I would love the sport, and my toes would get frostbite!  I met Lori during the early days of my training.  She was kind and an upperclassmen.  She and a few other girls befriended me and after skiing was over for the season, they convinced me to do track and cross country running.

When Lori graduated, we had very little contact with one another until I saw her again at a Campus Crusade conference while I was in college.  Now she and her husband are working for Campus Crusade in the St. Cloud area.  I was so happy our paths crossed  again and meet the rest of her family this fall.

My love/ hate relationship with Black Friday

It is another one of those love/ hate relationships for me. Like I have with snow.  I love it because it is so beautiful and peaceful.  It clears all the brown away and makes for a cozy afternoon inside with a warm cup of coffee.

I hate it because I live in Minnesota, and every other day in winter can become a day of snow.  Traffic gets crazy, people either go way too fast or way too slow on the roads, and it means that my trusted shovel comes out once again so that I can have a place to walk.

So it is with shopping.  My love/ hate relationship returns.  It was so much easier back when I didn’t have kids.  I could easily go to the mall for a quick stop and get what I needed and where I needed it.  Now it has become a rarity basically because it is NOT a quick stop with the kids and when I do go, I seem to take forever to try and find exactly what I am looking for.

Black Friday has become my way out, espically at Christmas time.    I have to say I have a love/ hate relationship with this day as well.  Basically because now it is finding the things that I really need/ want and who I am buying a gift for.  Love it because of all the amazing deals that take place.  Hate it because I probably spend way more than I should.  Love it because sales start at 3am, hate it for the same reason!  Love it because I can get all my shopping done in one day, hate it for the crowds and parking spot fights.

So I am giving into this love/ hate relationship today by finding a happy medium… On-line shopping!  Have a great Friday, and happy shopping!

If you are on-line shopping, don’t forget about the Thanksgiving/ Black Friday sale that I have going on now, see yesterday’s post for more details!
