Real life: Week one

I wanted a challenge a way to keep me accountable to actually uploading and putting all my photos from my phone onto my computer and then actually organizing them!!  I decided to put a project to it and after seeing numerous posts on other blogs, took the idea and ran with it.  So here is my challenge to you as well as myself, every Friday, upload all those wonderful photos you take of your family, your pets, events, cool things from the week and LOAD them to your computer or hard drive and have some fun with them!  I am putting myself to the test and putting it out there for you, internet, to hold me accountable to!

So without further adu, here is my week ranging from spring break, meeting my newest niece, dinner with my in-laws, dying Easter eggs, a youth event, and a spring run!  What did you do?!

Have a great weekend!!

    One of those weeks…

“Where-ever you are, be all there.” -Jim Elliot

Happy Thursday to you!  My week has just been one of those weeks.  Ever have one where you feel  like you are just running from one thing to the next?  Checking off the to-do list just to get to the next do do list?  (Did I ever tell you how much I love to do lists?! I have about 3 per day and get great joy of checking each task off as it is completed)!  But this week, agh, it has just been one thing after the other which has caused me grief in even getting to check off a few things on the list.  Be it spring fever, a lack of motivation, numerous distractions, whatever it is, my mind has been racing to nowhere and getting little to nothing done in the process.

Last night I sat thinking about the WHY my week has been like this, and after focusing for more than 10 undistracted minutes, I came to an answer, maybe obvious to some, but to me a slap on the forehead that I consistently need; a reason slow down.  Not focusing on anything, gets you little-to-nowhere.  Focusing on one thing, gets it done, out of the way in order to move on to the next task at hand.  Extremely simple, easy to understand, but in our crazy, fast-paced, social-media frenzied culture, easy to forget!  My week has been in a constant state of not finishing one thing, and moving on to the next.

Not really a mind-blowing, earth-shattering thought, but something my heart needed today. I hope your day is filled with being all there, where-ever it may be.

Happy Spring!!  In less than a month flowers will be blooming, the grass will be green, and we will have long forgotten winter’s blustery days!

I always look forward to these Short and Sweet sessions!  After doing it for a number of years, it is always great to see past clients again and see how their families are changing and growing.  This year I have added a session at Elm Creek Park and am bringing along vintage props!  If this session is something you are interested in or need more info on, please let me know and I will happy to let you in on this fun session!

These sessions go fast, so let me know as soon as you can to book your day and time!!  Looking forward to seeing you and your family!

        Hello:

We got your name via my sister, Lindsey (Van Arman) Straub and Lindsay Halvorson. Would love to book one of your mini sesions for Sunday, May 19th at Elm Creek. I have 3 boys – age 5, age 4 and 6 months (in May). This would be a good chance for us to try and get a few shots of the boys together and the baby to mark the 6 month mark. He may be sitting up by then – or pretty close with a little prop behind him. Let us know what times are still available for that date and where we need to send payment to secure a timeslot.

        Thanks,
        Lisa Tanious

      Jake & Dani:: Silverwood Wedding

They have known each other since 4th grade, yet at that point, neither had marriage on their mind.  It was more coodies and boy/ girl germs, yet throughout many connections through their church Dani and Jake’s paths continued to cross.  They both attended rival high schools, and in 11th grade the couple started dating.  They went to prom together and even ventured a year to college together.

Last fall Jake surprised Dani with a trip up to Taylors falls.  When she arrived, she knew it was not a tip like any other.  Jake had very carefully and secretly had friends line a path of flower petals and to a picnic area overlooking the St. Croix River.  He brought out his guitar and played Adam Sandler’s “Grow Old with You” from the Wedding Singer on her guitar.  Feeling both overjoyed and elated, Dani could hardly believe it was happening.  After the song, Jake got down on one knee and asked his 4th grade friend to be his wife.

It was a joy for me to be documenting this day because a few years ago, I was documenting Dani’s senior photos!!  How quickly the time has passed!!

Dani and Jake, it was awesome to be with you during your wedding day.  You are extremely beautiful people to be around and I know throughout the years the Lord will truly bless your marriage, thank you for allowing me to be with you! It was a joy!

And here is your slide-show!  Enjoy!!

Jake & Dani:: Details of a Silverwood wedding

Not only did Dani’s dress fit her like a glove, she rocked it in and throughout the entire day of rain, and even ventured outside when it let up a bit.  Jake was just as awesome and easy going, so it made photographing them even through the unpredictable weather enjoyable!!  Throughout all the wonderful planning, Jake and Dani’s day came together beautifully!  More to come tomorrow of this brave and beautiful couple!
