It is coming.
I promise, spring is on its way! With that, comes the beauty of everything new and GREEN!! Spring can be a beautiful, but a tricky time to photograph in. As a photographer, I have trained my eyes to see colors of light throughout the year. The colors of the sun and all things during the months of March, April and the first part of May have more greenish- yellow and pastel tone to them.
This is because there are no green leaves or green grass for the light to reflect off of. There are also no leaves on the trees, so less shade to be in when the sun is shining, which in turn can create squinty eyes and shadows everywhere.
Spring is still a beautiful season to photograph in, but knowing where and when to be photographed can make photos even better. So here are some of my suggestions::
- Have your session early or late in the day to catch the sunrise or sunset light.
- If you have to do a session during the daytime hours (because of naps or other reasons) I would suggest finding a location that has constant shade available.
- If you love the flowers of the season and your schedule allows, have your session in the later weeks of May.
Some great spots that I can recommend in the Cities::
- Lake Harriet Rose and Japanese Gardens
- Como Park in St. Paul
- Interstate Park
- Minnehaha Falls (late in the afternoon)
