Oh how I loved meeting the sweet Bloom family. From the pieces of art in their home to the teeny Sperry’s they had picked out for their daughter, I knew we would connect. It was a joy to work with them and their little peanut slept almost the entire session and gave us a few sweet smiles throughout our time together!
It’ so hard to believe how fast a year goes by! Almost exactly one year ago I was photographing this family with their 6 week old, and now look at him! Moving and grooving on all fours this little guy will be running to catch up with his older siblings in not some many months! I love seeing sweet families like the Darkenwalds over time and the Rose Gardens were a perfect location for their session!
For every Red Thread session, I get a little emotional. I think its the combination of knowing that a child has found his or her forever home and the picture of how Christians are adopted into the family of God. There is nothing that this child could do on account of his own works to get into the family, but a picture of complete and utter acceptance and love that this family had for this child long before he ever entered into their family.
I was overjoyed when the sweet Tabb family contacted me a few months ago telling me that they were in the process of adopting their little guy from China. What makes this family even MORE special, is that long ago, even before they were married, we all attended the same church together. It is a joy o see their family come together in its on and unique way. I love being a part of these sessions and blessing families along the way.

Meeting Jenna and Taylor’s little man was wonderful! I was able to photograph their wedding almost 2 years ago, and seeing their little guy made me so happy. As you can probably imagine, the Minneapolis Rose Gardens are one of my favorite places to photograph. If your family is looking for some updated photos, I would love to connect!
Including siblings in your newborn session… yes or no?
My answer is always yes.
It might feel a little chaotic in the moment, but those are often the images you end up treasuring the most—the real connection, the tiny interactions, the beginning of a new family story.
I’ve loved watching the Luong family grow through all three of their children’s newborn sessions, and those sibling moments are always some of my favorites.
