3 under 4 and 1 on the way: Rochester family

My sister came up to the Cities with a purpose, get the kids photographed before the next one is born.  How could I resist?  3 of my favorite little cute people (besides my own) were ready and (almost) willing to be photographed for their fall photos.  In the past we have just done family sessions with the rest of the big family gatherings, but this time was different!  We gathered up the kids (left mine at home) and headed downtown for some urban photos.  The kids did great despite the attack of the killer misquotes, and the heat.

I seriously do not know how my little sister does it.  She is a great mom and wife, and while thinking about another child almost makes me crazy, she is calm, collected, and put together.  We can not wait for the newest addition to arrive in October, and this time around they decided to wait on finding out the sex, and secretly wanting another girl.

Here are some of my favorites from our morning.  Love you all!

… was anyone interested in the session besides me and Claire…

Joe and Karna

Karna and I met freshman year of college.  I remember my first impressions of her; bubbly, loving, friendly,go-getter, and caring woman.  Ten years later she is still that same woman and more.  She has inspired me through and through.  I remember her working late nights in the communications department, and all that hard work has paid off.  She is now working for WCCO as a web producer and is amazing at her job.  Joe providentially was placed in her world a few years ago and it has been really fun to be on the sidelines watching their relationship blossom.  During the engagement session (see HERE) I was able to get to know the two of them better together (before then it had only been in group settings), and I loved the way that they loved and cared for each other.

Much of this was apparent on their extremely beautiful wedding day.  The two decided on a March morning wedding because they love St. Paul and wanted guests to take advantage of the city.  Karna and Joe met for the first time in Rice Park, and because it was so early, there was no one around.  It was like a fairy tale, and to be honest, I cried.  Not only then, but during the ceremony.  It was such a joyful occasion, I was so thrilled to be on the insides capturing the day for them.

Karna texting Joe when they were about to meet: ” I’ll be the one in the white dress.”

I was in love with their color scheme: Black, white and yellow.  When I recieved the invite to the wedding I eeked because I loved them so much!  They tied it all together so well!

After the ceremony and reception, we headed out for some photos of the two of them on Grand Ave and down to Micky’s Diner.Thank you Karna and Joe for allowing me to be a part of your day, I was honored and loved getting to know the two of you better.  Much love and blessings to you!

    The Borardman family

In the fall I was asked by a wonderful organization, New Life family Services (Web-site Here), to be a part of a silent auction they were holding for their Rochester location.  Maggie and her family were the winners.  She waited until this past week to “redeem” her photo session because she wanted photos of her newest addition, Ben.  We met up at the James J Hill library (Web-site Here) and found many nooks and crannies to shoot in.  Her oldest Tommy, started the session as being a shy guy, but about half way through warmed up to the camera and was hamming it up!  It was a wonderful way to spend my morning and afterword I thought about the wonderful opportunity to photograph the newest life that had been give to the Boardmans.

***As a side note, this organization is near and dear to my heart as my best friend, and many others, have adopted their wonderful children through New Life.  I love the work that they are doing and praise God for them.

i came across your website through Erin Olson’s (who I’m just getting to know as we are in a small group at church together) facebook page. I used to work at New Life Family Services and also just LOVE what that organization does. Your photos are beautiful!

    on… being an aunt

Whenever we head to southern MN, this little guy is one of the 3 waiting for us.  The other 2 are more excited to see the girls, but I know this guy is waiting for me.   Ok, I hope he is waiting for me.  He just waits peering behind his excited siblings to see if his Auntie is following behind.   Even though he is only 4 months younger than my little guy, Ben, there is something different about him.  I think because I get the fun parts of his life with him; no changing diapers, no screaming, and… I can always hand him back to mom if he starts crying.  The joys of auntiehood!
