Reflections:: Fall Favorites

Well, here it is.  Happy Fall to you!  Can you believe it?  We Minnesotans have made it through Spring, Summer and now enter the third (probably shortest!) season, fall.  As many of you know July is my very favorite month, but September is a close second.  Those warm days and crisp nights, what’s not to love.  So as we enter this next season of the year, I thought I would share some of my favorite fall things with you!

  1. Pumpkin Spice Everything!  Well me and pretty much all other people love the pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin spice bars, pumpkin spice candles (Here is a favorite!!), and even pumpkin spice soaps!
  2. Bonfires! Bring out the s’mores and invite the neighbors and friends over.  Bonfires have always been one of my favorite ways of connecting and laughing with friends.  I can remember back in high school all the fun we had around bonfires!
  3. Vests!  I am a huge fan of what my husband calls “fall life preservers.” There is no joke about it, I am a huge fan of the vests and have 5 in different colors!
  4. Apple Orchards.  Typically I take my kids over MEA with my sisters and their kids, but this year we have already ventured there because we will be out of town over MEA.  Ever since Lydia turned five we have been going to this one.  It is my all time favorite and one that I recommend to every one of all ages. Pet the animals pick the delicious apples, and even a pumpkin.  And go on the hayride.  One year I cried, and my sister laughed at me.  Ask me about it later and I’ll explain why, or just go on the hayride and you may know why!
  5.  The North Shore.  Kevin and I were married Sept 28th and the North Shore of Minnesota has a special spot in our hearts.  Most every year we get a cabin over our anniversary, look at the leaves, and do one day of hiking based on how many years we have been married.  This year, I’m not sure we will get up there as we are taking a big trip in November, but I am really hoping for a day trip to enjoy this beautiful location!

Now of course these are just a few things I personally love so much about fall.  Now your turn, what are some of your favorite places/ tings about fall?!!

FIVE Event Center Wedding:: Andy and Cyndi

They were working together at a bank in La Crosse and after Cyndi was introduced to Andy, she was immediately drawn to him.  Not being the best time, in her mind, to start a relationship, she ignored the feelings and tried going about her weekly routines, but Andy kept coming to her mind.

After being trained in, their cubicles were so close, the two repeditaly flirted with one another and finally one night after work, they both went to happy hour with another friend from work.  After he left, it was just the two of them, and conversation just flowed. The following week they went disc golfing with other friends and finally one night after going to Wiener Fest (yes a real thing in La Crosse) Cyndi got the nerve to text Andy to meet her at a bar where she declared her feelings to him and the two have been inseparable ever since.

Almost 3 years later, Andy surprised Cyndi with a pair of tickets to a Packer game (their favorite football team!) as they were walking along one of their favorite walking paths in Eden Prairie.  As they entered a secluded part of the path, Andy then got down on one knee and asked Cyndi to be his wife! Shocked and overjoyed, she said yes and the two began planning their day.

Their August wedding day was held at Five Event Center in Minneapolis.  Those friends who joined them on their first dates attended along with family and friends to watch them tie the knot on the rainy day.  Amanda Lanzel, one of Cyndi’s good friends, made Cyndi look flawless while Fox Den Salon created a beautiful up-do for her.  The couple’s Shane Co rings were beautiful and paired well with Cynthia’s white and lace gown from The Wedding Shoppe and her shoes from DSW.

In between the ceremony and reception, Cyndi and Andy snuck away a few blocks to their favorite bar, The Herkimer, where every Sunday during football season they go to watch the Packers play.  It was a restful 20 minutes ( and a favorite part of the day) as the two shared moments of the ceremony and relaxed with a beer.

Each bridesmaid wore a different blush colored dress and the white roses and greens that Florals by Claire put together were a perfect touch when put up against the Calvin Klein suits from Men’s Warehouse.

Green Mill brought in a tasty meal of Chicken Marsala for guests while Instant Request kept guests dancing the night away.

Cyndi and Andy, you are such an amazing couple and it was an honor to spend the day with you and your families!  I wish you the best as you enter this new amazing stage in life!!

Keller Golf Course Wedding:: Mike & Molly

It was a perfect night for dancing.  Something Molly loved doing with her friends. When they got to the bar, she wasn’t looking for anyone in particular she just wanted to enjoy the evening.  That was when he saw her. Mike made his way toward the dancing brunette and asked to dance with her, and after chatting a bit, asked for her number. She gave it to him, and a few days later they went on their first date.

After dating for a while, Mike knew Molly would love a boat cruise trip for her birthday.  She thought something was wrong because Mike had been acting strange all night.  Not really knowing what Mike was planning, she asked if he wanted to go to the top deck of the boat. As they headed into the docks, and after chatting a bit, Molly noticed Mike holding his cargo pocket.  She asked what he doing and to her question he responded that he had a ring in his pocked.

      “You’re lying.” she responded.

But Mike was not lying and from there, he got down on one knee and proposed!

Their beautiful August wedding day was filled with glorious sunshine and friends and family who joyfully watched them exchange their wedding vows at Keller Golf Course in Maplewood.  Molly’s elegant ivory Essense of Australia gown from Raffine Bridal paired perfectly with the elegant lavender Bill Levkoff dresses her bridesmaids wore also from Raffine Bridal. Their beautiful summer bouquets with succulents, roses and orchids from Sweet Peas Floral were a perfect pop of color against the dresses.

Her flawless make-up done by Chris of Gunpowder and Gloss looked stunning and her up-do from Beau Monde Salon was beautiful.

Shane Co. provided the a beautiful diamond for Molly’s diamond ring, and her amazing shoes from David’s Bridal.  Mike and his groomsmen wore classic grey suits from with a pop of purple in their ties. Get Krafty with it, an Etsy shoppe, created the intricate wedding invitations and stationary.

Lancer Catering provided an incredible meal, while Buttercream knocked it out of the park with a delectable chocolate and Bailey’s cake.  The centerpieces on each of the tables contained succulents grown individually by Molly’s mom through the year and the theme continued as guests entered to find their seating.  Individual succulents with a name card attached help friends know which table to go to.

Guests danced the night away with music from Bengi of  Instant Request.  There was even a quick retreat outside for some night shots on the course.

Molly and Mike, you are such a fun couple.  I was honored to share such an amazing day with you, thank you for including me in it.  Congratulations!

The Woods Chapel Wedding:: Maddie and Billy

To be or not to be, that was the question that started Maddie and Billy’s journey together.

As high school seniors in their AP Literature class, they connected through the reading of Hamlet. Since then they have gone through many adventures.  Weather it be through a bike ride in downtown Wayzata or a exploring Paris on a special spring break, they are always on the move.

After one of their typical bike ride adventures though downtown Wayzata, Billy led Maddie on a scavenger hunt through the places they fell in love. Maddie started at her home with a clue from her mother telling her to get dressed up and then headed to the Wayzata high school parking lot where she met some of his high school soccer teammates. From there, she got the clue to move on to Billy’s home, and from there was led to Caribou where one of her good friends was waiting with the next clue. She was directed to Wayzata beach where Billy was waiting on one knee where all the friends and family that participated in the scavenger were waiting to watch her reaction.

Billy and Maddie were wed at The Woods Chapel in Minnetonka with friends and family watching. Their beautiful August wedding day was full of sun and joy as they celebrated with friends and family from all over the US. Maddie’s beautiful wedding dress purchased from Posh Bridal paired perfectly with white roses and eucalyptus that Bachmans created for the day. The sparkling diamond from Helzberg Diamonds that Billy gave Maddie was stunning and Sue Hodapp created a beautiful and elegant stationary suite. Maddie looked flawless with an elegant up-do that Anna Root, her former dance teacher, did for her. The Vince Camuto periwinkle bridesmaid dresses from Macy’s popped when up put up against the gray Engara suits that the groomsmen wore from Men’s Warehouse.

The romantic and classic atmosphere of Wayzata Country Club was a perfect backdrop for dinner and dessert.  Andy from Instant Request kept the party rocking as guests danced the night away while Jeffery from Sunset Blue Productions captured it all on film. The haze from the Canadian wildfires created the most beautiful light for the evening and even thought dew points were in the 90’s, Maddie and Billy braved the elements to get some of the most beautiful photos.Billy and Maddie, what an honor it was to share your day with you, thank you for including me in it and I wish you all the best as you move forward in marriage.Vendors for the day included::// Ceremony:: The Woods Chapel //  Reception:: Wayzata Country Club //Hair:: Anna Root  //  Florist:: Bachmans // Wedding Dress:: Posh Bridal Couture // Bridesmaids Dresses:: Vince Camuto from Macy’s // Men’s Ware:: Egara from Men’s Warehouse// Rings:: Helzberg Diamonds // Stationery:: Sue Hodapp// Caterer and Baker:: Wayzata Country Club // DJ:: Andy from Instant Request// Video:: Jeffery from Sunset Blue Productions //

Making your wedding photos better; an engagement session!

In the past when meeting with brides, it has been one of the questions asked again and again… Why is an engagement session included in your packages?  Is it really necessary?

To that, my answer is always a resounding YES!  No matter what, hands down, and many photographer’s would agree with me, that an engagement session is an important aspect to making your wedding photos be even better!  Why you would ask?  Because understanding your relationship and interaction with one another helps me as the photographer understand you as a couple.  The way he makes you laugh, and the way you laugh, what you laugh at, are all things I need to know about.  It is not only your relationship that is key, but me as the photographer understanding your relationship.  Watching you interact helps me to know what to look for on the day of the wedding!

Not only do I get to see the way your act with one another behind the camera, I get to know you on a deeper level.  During this session, I get more info on how your wedding day will look, what you like to do as a couple, who you are as people! Treating your session as a “date” (with a creeper following you with a camera!) is so fun.  Enjoying the activities you like to do together puts a couple more at ease during that session and then on the wedding day!  It really is one of my favorite times!
