Spring is here?

I walked out the front door this morning to find my 4 year old  yelling “MOM!!!! That flower is blooming!!”

This hardy little plant has made its way to the surface.  Below the meltage of the winter snow, I can just about say spring is here… but then I start to wonder.

The forecaster for tomorrow has predicted snow. AGAIN.  I know it can only come soon, but after 5 longs months of winter, this MN girl is wondering again why I live here!

    New (FREE) Actions

To most people this may be a really boring post, but for those of you who are photographers (or those of you that just like to pretend you are), this post is for you!  For those raising your eyebrows and just wondering, what the heck is an action, let me help.

The process the photo goes though before reaching a client’s wall can actually take a many steps in Photoshop or Lightroom or whatever editing system the photographer decides to use.  This can be an extremely long process especially when going though thousands of images.  Changing the contrast, the brightness, the color or the sharpness of a photo are all things that are looked at.  Because time is something we would all like more of, actions can be used.  These are the strenuous steps made simple of creating an image the way that it was envisioned on the day of the shoot and can save hours of time!

Because I am constantly looking for actions, and ways to make my time more time-efficient, I wanted to share a site that brought me more actions, and even better, they were FREE.  Check out Pure Photoshop Actions for a few more days.  Like them on Facebook and get your set.  Happy editing!

Here is one of my favorite little toddlers from a session last year.  Action names are below.

    Going from left to right:

    1) Photo shot out of Camera  2) Golden Sunset 3) Easy Peasy BW baby 4) Lookin Sharp  5)  No Ordinary Slumber  6) Pure Pink 7) Pure Pop  8) Warm and Soft Light

    A new use for Floss

My girls woke me up yesterday dressed in pink and hearts, all ready to celebrate Valentine’s day.  Little do they know, we have about 2 weeks and Elise’s birthday to go until that special day arrives!  Never the less they really wanted to make Valentine crafts, and last night I just so happened on a new blog and found this great craft that she had done.  To see her site and beautiful art see HERE. So all that to say, this is not my idea, but one that we were able to use and decorate our house with this morning!

It is a super easy craft.  (My 2 year old boy, was not in the slightest way interested though!)

To start off you will need floss, a sewing needle and a stack of old magazines or catalogs.

Have the child sew the floss though the hearts ( I cut them all out).

From there, tie a knot at the top and presto, you are finished with a super fun and easy craft!  Happy Friday!

    New Sample books

The UPS truck just pulled away.  My daughters and I ripped the boxes open to see what wonderful surprise was waiting for us…. my sample albums for me and suckers for them!   I was so excited that I had to blog about them today! (Two more are in the process of coming this week!)  I am in love with the books and they are so convenient (and affordable!)  Here are some examples!  I am still working on my albums, but plan to have all new books by January!

I like the idea. However, cracking, like the wedding photos, could prove a problem. I like the multiple colors of the baby albums. It really looks like something a new mom would want to take out and show her friends.

Happy Easter!! He has risen indeed!!
