Don & Sara: Hastings wedding

Don is a farmer, Sara is a foodie.

Sara is a good cook, Don is not.

Don likes to get up early, Sara would rather sleep in

Sara loves cats, Don is not particularly good with animals.

Yet, their relationship works, beautifully!  They are both Civil Engineers and their story began at Minneapolis City Hall.  The two met while writing up a grant together in 2001 to fund a bike path on the U of M campus, Sara while interning and Don while working.  After graduating, Sara decided to move to Seattle and spent nearly eight years there, not imagining that moving back to the Cities she would come face to face with the man she spent time with writing a grant!  She got a job as an engineer at the U of M in Minneapolis.  A colleague tried numerous times to try to set her and Don up, but was a little too subtle in his hints and he was unsuccessful.

The job at the the U of M did not end up working and unfortunately she was was let go .  Five minutes after the call, in shock, Don called by coincidence.  She explained what had happened and Don was ready to help.

Don and Sara started meeting weekly to discuss job hunting and networking in the Cities; he wanted to help her out and felt bad for her because she had not been in the Cities very long.  The meeting soon turned in longer talks, then dates, then to a wonderful friendship and relationship.  Not soon after they began meeting, Sara did start a job and Don was on one knee asking for her hand.

The foggy, winter day was just beautiful.  It was such a joy to get to know both Sara and Don.  They are completely real, and so fun to be with.  Congrats to you both!

Isaac and Amy: Van Dusen Mansion Wedding

She was headed to lunch; a Mexican restaurant in a small town of Wisconsin.  And he was headed there as well.  Both were a bit nervous as a mutual friend suggested they should get together because they had so many things in common.  Up for an adventure, both agreed as then met in the lobby and made small talk.  Throughout the course of their conversation, Isaac realized he and Amy had a lot in common.  Their love for coffee shops, their sense of humor and their deep faith in God.  They talked the hour away leaving more to be discussed as they started on the relationship that would take them farther than they imagined.

Fast forward to Friday the 13th, Isaac’s birthday.  He had hidden a few gifts around Amy’s apartment for her to find when she arrived home from work.  The two headed out to dinner with some friends, and came home.  At that moment it was time for Ike to open his birthday present.  When he was finished, he looked around and then at Amy with a sly grin…. “You forgot a gift,” he said to her.  He had her look in a closet where she then found a note that said, It’s someplace behind you.” Turning around, Amy found the best gift on one knee with a ring in his hand.

Their wedding day was filled with so much joy and laughter.  The biggest surprise to all their guests was when Amy and her father busted out with a choreographed dance during the father/ daughter dance.  Guests were laughing and cheering with excitement.

It was a beautiful day, and Amy and Ike, thank you for allowing me to capture it for you!  Congratulations and may the Lord continue to shower out His blessings upon you.

          John & Lindsay: Minneapolis Wedding

          It was October 20, 2011.

John had planned a Duluth get away for him and Lindsay.  It just so happened that the two of them were in the process of purchasing their house on the same day.  While making the drive up to Duluth the couple received word from their realtor who informed them that their offer had been accepted, and the house was theirs!  Lindsay was full of excitement, while John was thrilled, but not as excited.  Lindsay noticed he was not his typical self.  She took a mental note, but didn’t say anything.

When the two arrived at their room, John suggested on a hike before dinner.  Being a little suspicious, Lindsay agreed and the two headed out.  The entire walk, John held one hand in his pocket and the other holding a folder… but nothing happened.  Then the two went back to the room and got ready for dinner.  On the way to dinner, John led Lindsay down to a lake and then found a bench overlooking the water.  John sat there for a minute in silence before he took out a piece of construction paper out of the folder he was holding.  On the paper were 100 different reasons why he loved Lindsay.  From there, he pulled his hand out of his pocket and held the little box, opened it and asked Lindsay to marry him.  With a smile and tears, Lindsay agreed.

Their wedding day was filled with family, friends, laughter, joy and fun.
