Woodhaven Weddings and Events Wedding:: Cannon Falls, MN

He read her profile, saw her photo, and Cameron knew he wanted to meet Nicole. She too saw Cameron on the app Hinge and after he asked her out, agreed. Nervously, they decided on Utepils Brewery in Minneapolis for their first date. A few awkward texts, then a smile and laugh, and they were both instantly at ease with the other. Cameron and Nicole ended up spending 6 hours chatting in the balmy March Minnesota weather on the brewery’s patio. From there, many dates were planned until one afternoon Cameron set up a scavenger hunt. He included Nicole’s best friend and then the two were sent on a chase between family members giving the next clues to them. Nicole eventually arrived at the gazebo in Stillwater where Cameron was waiting for her. There he proposed and the two began planning their big day.

Nicole and Cameron chose to hold their ceremony and reception Woodhaven Events in Cannon Falls. The day was absolutely perfect for a wedding. The women began the day by getting ready on site with Meghan of MKM Stylings doing her hair and Alexa Navis make-up doing makeup for the ladies. Nicole’s mother and sister helped her into her dress from Posh Bridal where she then did a first look with her bridesmaids and then her father. Cameron was waiting at the bottom of the staircase for her, and their first look was beautiful. The wedding party then joined us, along with Nicole and Cameron’s sweet Bernidoodle, Walt for photos on the green. Nicole’s bridesmaids looked stunning in their mauve dresses from Birdy Grey and the groomsmen, wearing navy suits from the Modern Groom, looked just as dashing. The incredible floral designs from Teri Kryzer were perfect to highlight the venue. Kim from Laurie’s Design did a wonderful job of coordinating the day and making it go smoothly.

The ceremony began and was preformed by Jon Neal, the couple’s pastor, and Cameron and Nicole exchanged vows then rings from Jared and sealed their vows with a kiss. Guests cheered as the couple recessed, and even Walt was excited for Nicole and Cameron to be pronounced husband and wife. River Valley Catering provided guests with a delicious meal and then Ash from Midwest Sound brought Nicole and Cameron out for their first dance. Guests continued to dance the night away as Cameron and Nicole snuck out for a few golden hour shots on the green. The night ended with a sparkler exit in front of Woodhaven with friends and family celebrating the couple.

Nicole and Cameron, you are both incredible people and I am so thrilled our paths have crossed. Congratulations on your wedding and I hope your honeymoon to Hawaii is restful and amazing!!

Hutton House Wedding ::Medicine Lake, MN

In 2018 both Chris and Michelle swiped right on Bumble and neither knew what they were both in for. The two met for their first date and realized quickly they had much in common. One date turned into many and when Michelle was placed in Texas for her residency, Chris made the drastic move from the Midwest to the South to be with her. They both knew things were progressing towards marriage at that point and it was only a matter of time.

At Christmas the following year, Chis encouraged Michelle to take a weekend trip to Arizona to see her family. During that time, he planned an afternoon walking around a beautiful lake with fountains and greenery. As they were walking he approached an innocent bystander and asked if he’d take a video of the couple. During the video, Chris got down on one knee and proposed to Michelle. She of course said yes, and they were able to go back and celebrate with Michelle’s family.

Chris and Michelle chose to exchange their vows at the beautiful Hutton House on Medicine Lake. Because friends and family were coming from all over the world and they wanted to be able to spend the weekend celebrating with them, they chose to have a Thursday wedding. Jenna Cully and her team from Jenna Culley Events planned the most spectacular day and took all of Chris and Michelle’s requests into consideration.

The day began with Michelle and her bridal party getting hair done at the Jai b Experience and Kahuah and May doing make up. They party arrived in the party bus provided by Renae’s Limo’s and then her mother helped Michelle into her beautiful bridal gown from Raffine’s Bridal. Michelle’s bridal party all wore grey attire with dresses purchased at David’s Bridal and Chris’ bridal party wore navy blue with the men purchasing suits from Men’s Warehouse. The incredible floral arrangements created by Wilderland Floral paired beautifully with the blues and grays and looked stunning in the Hutton House. Being that Michelle is a first generation American, she wanted to incorporate her Nigerian heritage into most of the day. One of those wonderful attributes was having a group of people (her Aso-Ebi tribe), a group of people who encourages you and is a big part of your life and also wears the same traditional dress, be a part of photos. After doing photos with family and wedding party in front of the beautiful floral arch, Chris and Michelle chose to be married indoors. The ceremony was rich with family, love and honor for one another. After exchanging rings from Brilliant Earth and Cartier in front of their guests, Michelle and Chris were pronounced husband and wife and retreated to a room to exchange their vows to one another privately.

Their cocktail hour was full of mingling and friends reconnecting with one another until dinner from Marna’s was served to guests. The toasts that the mother’s and Chris gave were heartwarming and full of gratitude and love. Brandon Mensah started the party with Michelle and Chris’ first dance followed by incredible first dances with Michelle and her father and then Chris and his mother. About an hour into the dance, Chris and Michelle changed into traditional African dress and were announced and celebrated by all as they entered. It was such a celebration of joy and togetherness. Thank you Michelle and Chris for including me, it was an incredible night. I hope your honeymoon in Hawaii is restful and amazing!

        Absolutely stunning!!!!

Backyard Wedding :: Private Residence, MN

They were matched on Tinder and finally met in person at a Caribou. Christie and Blake ended up talking over coffee and when the shop closed, the two stayed even longer chatting in the parking lot. Both agreed to meet up the following day and spent even more time together and both knew they were meant to be together after Christie spent a weekend alone with Blake’s parents working on a gingerbread house!

After dating for a short time, both Christie and Blake knew they wanted to be married but never much thought about a true engagement story. Blake had picked up the ring he and Christie had picked out, but wanted to make the moment special. The couple was visiting Schram Winery on a beautiful summer day for a wine tasting. As they sat in the sun at the picnic tables afterward, Christie joked about Blake having the ring with him, and how perfect it would be for a proposal. She guessed that it might be with him, and after a few guesses, he surprised her with it under his hand and asked her to marry him.

Christie and Blake decided they wanted their wedding day to be less traditional and more of an event for friends and family to participate in with them. They chose to host their wedding day at Christie’s parents home in Southwestern, MN. Her parents had been updating their property for a few years and it seemed the perfect place to host a summer wedding. Christie got ready in the apartment on their property with one of her sisters doing her hair and make up. She looked stunning in her ivory Allure Bridal gown from Inspire Bridal Boutique. Blake and his father got ready in the house and he looked dapper in his grey suit from Knights Chamber Clothiers. The two had their first look in the grove of trees on the back of their property with Christie removing a blindfold off Blake. They continued with family photos there and then began the ceremony with Christie’s brother in law officiating and walked out to bubbles and whoops of celebratory cheers!

The celebration continued as Christie’s mother (a former caterer and incredible chef) created a beautiful grazing table for guests to enjoy during the cocktail hour. Guests played yard games ranging from bags to ladder ball while bartenders from the Minnesota School of Bartending mixed up cocktails (margaritas and Old Fashioned’s-the bride and groom’s signature cocktails) poured wine and served beer. Guests were encouraged to wander through the different tents throughout the property for drinks, appetizers, games, signing the poster guestbook created by Nibiru Design, speaking into the After the Tone Phone Recordings audio guestbook, taking photos at the Photo Booth, or boogie down to music hosted by Nicholas Thomas Entertainment and eventually serve themselves an incredible dinner made by Mimi Hendel. Christie’s sister, a pastry chef, created a macaroon cake and creme brûlée for guests to enjoy.

The day was hot, humid and a bit overcast, but we ended the evening by heading to Kinbrae Lake for a few photos on the water, then to Christie’s uncle’s farm for more golden hour photos and beautiful sunset photos. We celebrated with a champagne pop and sparklers. Christie and Blake ended up changing into lighter and cooler attire for the remainder of the evening where they were able to chat with friends and family and enjoy the rest of their beautiful day.

Christie and Blake, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your wedding day. Enjoy your honeymoon in Austin, Texas!!

Lumber Exchange Wedding :: Minneapolis, MN

Theirs is a story of middle school sweethearts growing up together. Heather and Ryan met while attending Crosswinds, a middle school magnet school. Heather’s focus was art and Ryan’s science. The couple continued attending middle school dances, high school dances, prom and eventually graduation together. Both decided upon different colleges (but in Wisconsin) and continued their long distance relationship with one another. Eventually they both graduated from college and Ryan began grad school in Indiana and Heather moved out to be with him. Upon graduating, the couple both chose professions in Chicago and now call the city home

In 2019, Heather and Ryan took a trip to Hawaii with Ryan’s family. They traveled to a beach under the guise of Ryan’s dad, who is an incredible photographer, going to take sunset photos. Ryan proposed right as sunset peaked with his dad there to take photos. Heather was very surprised! A local Hawaiian women saw the proposal, got very excited, ran off, and returned shortly with flowers to give to Heather.

Both Heather and Ryan chose to get married in 2021 in Heather’s parent’s backyard with only family in attendance and decided on 2022 being the year they would host a large celebration for both family and friends from near and far. The couple chose to host their ceremony and reception at the industrial Lumber Exchange in downtown Minneapolis. Being that Ryan comes from an Indian heritage, the couple chose to start the day in Indian garb. Full of color and vibrance and representing good luck and happiness, Heather wore a traditional red and gold sari and Ryan word a beautifully embroidered Kafni. The bridesmaids and groomsmen also wore wedding sari’s and Kafni.

The women began the day getting ready at the Lumber Exchange bridal suite with Heather’s beautiful updo done by Lisa Nghiem of LHN Beauty and Make up completed by Belissimo Salon. The women then were helped into their Sari’s while the men also got dressed and ready for the day. Heather and Ryan had an emotional first look and then we headed to the Stone Arch Bridge with family and the wedding party for some city photos with Rent my Party Bus. Upon returning, guests began arriving with Erica of Piece of Cake Wedding Planning, making sure that everything was perfectly timed for the beautiful ceremony. Heather and Ryan exchanged rings and vows and then took the seven steps together as they vowed to support and love one another. They ended the ceremony by exchanging flower garlands.

After the ceremony while guests conversed at Pourhouse for the social hour, Heather and Ryan proceeded to get into western attire. Heather in her beautiful gown from the Wedding Shoppe and Ryan in his sharp navy suit from Suit Supply. The couple chose to do a second first look and then the wedding party joined us for more formal photos. The light blue dresses from the Wedding Shoppe when paired with the bouquets that Heather created from the flowers at the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market looked stunning.

The Lumber Exchange provided an excellent meal for guests as well as tasty sweets for dessert. Heather and Ryan kicked off the party by doing one of the most amazing first dances and Instant Request kept the party going all night long. We ended our time with beautiful photos on the rooftop. Heather and Ryan, congratulations. It has been an honor to photograph you. May your happiness continue for many more years together.
