Darkenwald Family:: Minneapolis Rose Gardens

It’ so hard to believe how fast a year goes by! Almost exactly one year ago I was photographing this family with their 6 week old, and now look at him!  Moving and grooving on all fours this little guy will be running to catch up with his older siblings in not some many months!  I love seeing sweet families like the Darkenwalds over time and the Rose Gardens were a perfect location for their session!

      A’Bulae Wedding:: Taylor and Brian

      It was the absolute perfect May day for an A’Bulae wedding, but let’s back up for a minute…

      Taylor and Brian had been texting back-and-forth for over a week when Bryan finally asked if  Taylor would meet him at an Apple Orchard in Lakeville for a first date.  After apple picking and easy conversations the couple went to dinner.  They then proceeded to spent the next five hours talking through various topics; everything from politics to past relationships and future plans.  When they looked at the clock they had nearly closed the restaurant down! Brian asked Taylor on a second date and she couldn’t deny him!  From there the two continued dating.

      Being a hard person to surprise Taylor, showed up at the Sawyer family fish fry one Friday night not expecting anything else but dinner. But she knew something was up when Bryan met her at the door and asked her to walk outside. Excited, she followed after him and there on the on the bench of the patio was a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Confused because it wasn’t their anniversary, she thanked Brian, looked more closely at the flowers and found attached to the ribbon around the flowers was a ring. She teared up and turned around to find Brian on one knee with that question she had been waiting for; “Will you marry me?!”

      Their beautiful May wedding day was filled with glorious sunshine and friends and family who joyfully watched them exchange their wedding vows at The University of Northwestern.  Being that Taylor is the girls LaCrosse coach for the Northwestern Eagles, they had to make sure that the entire wedding party as well as some of the girls from Taylor’s team on the field for some photos!

      It was also an emotional day as friends and family mourned and celebrated the loss of Taylor’s father who had passed away one year ago due to pancreatitis. It was a tragic case where his pancreas shut down and 53 days later it took his life. Her brother stood in the gap and walked her down the aisle as guests wiped away tears.

      After the ceremony, guests celebrated with the couple at A’Balue, an industrial event center in the downtown St. Paul area. Taylor’s elegant ivory More Lee gown from the Chicago House of brides wedding shop was paired perfectly with the elegant navy Versa dresses her bridesmaids wore from David’s Bridal. Their all white spring bouquets with hydrangeas and roses from Lexington Floral were a perfect pop of white against the dresses. Jared provided the most beautiful diamond surrounded with blue sapphires for Taylor’s diamond ring, and her amazing shoes from DSW (some I had never seen before!) added a sharp bling to the rest of her ensemble. Brian and his groomsmen wore classic black suits from Men’s Warehouse with a pop of navy pattern in their ties. Elegant Invites created the intricate wedding invitations and stationary. Guests danced the night away with music from Justin Martin of Bellagala and during the “father/ daughter dance,” Taylor’s brother and uncles stood into fill in for her dad, leaving no dry eye in the place.  There was even a few quick retreats to the rooftop at A’Baule overlooking the entire city while Freed Films caught everything on video!

      Taylor’s and Brian you are a power team and it was an honor to spend your day with you! I wish you both many years of joy and happiness!

      North Loop Engagement Session:: Candace and Preston

      Finding a place that fit both the style and personality of Candace and Preston was easier than expected.  The beautiful and trendy area of the North Loop was a perfect place for the couple that likes to travel and try out new restaurants.  Making our way around a few block radius on a Saturday beautiful afternoon we made our way around alleyways, fun wall space and even along the Mississippi River.  I simply can not wait for Candace and Preston’s July wedding day!

        Having a photo session with twins can be anything but boring! Add in a toddler, and things get even more eventful!  Michelle and Hector were incredible though.  Patient, loving and knowing that perfect smile would come made it  worth the extra snuggles, food and tickles! Here’s to many more sessions with these amazing kiddos!
