Calhoun Beach Club Wedding:: Kari and Mark

She turned him down when he initially asked her out.  Mark was everything Kari was looking for in a husband, but there was one huge problem… he lived in North Carolina. Deep in her soul, Kari wanted to make it work out, but she informed him that the relationship was unrealistic. Mark was persistent, and wasn’t ready to let Kari go.  The two continued talking and a month later, Mark flew up in a snowstorm to the beautiful state of Minnesota.

After dating long distance for eleven Months, Mark made the move up to Minnesota to be with Kari.  Leaving the heat, a beautiful home, and a good job, Kari knew he was the one.  On the Saturday of Easter weekend, Mark had planned for the two to spend the afternoon together hiking at one of their favorite locations, Minehaha Falls.  Trying to avoid the crowds, Mark found a beautiful location and ended up getting down on one knee to propose to Kari.  After a resounding yes, a huge hug, Mark asked, ” Aren’t you even going to look at the ring?!”

Their September wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect.  The sun was shining, there was a slight breeze, and friends and family from all over the United States came to join them in celebration at Calvary Church.  After the ceremony guests and the wedding party headed to the classic Calhoun Beach Club for dinner catered by D’Amico. Kari’s Catherine Deane Cora gown from Posh Bridal was of perfect elegance when parried with the Tommy Hilfiger lavender gowns her bridesmaids wore.  Pops of ivory roses and eucalyptus bouquets that were handmade by Kari added yet another touch of beauty to the day.  Walking along the Minneapolis lake Calhoun provided a perfect backdrop for the wedding party and made for beautiful photos as the sun was setting.

Kari and Mark, you are a beautiful couple inside and out, and it was a joy and blessing to participate in your wedding day.  I wish you years of joy and happiness as you begin this beautiful road of marriage!

    Why a mini session?

Mini Session, full session, what’s the difference and why or how is one better for your family?

I’m so glad you asked!  This is a question I regularly get asked about and I would love to share with you some of my thoughts and things I have learned over the years about mini sessions and why they may (or may not) be a good fit for your family.

When a photographer refers to a mini session, most of the time they are referring to smaller session (15-30 minutes) that happen a few times a year, with the main focus being on capturing one main pose, say a family shot for a Holiday card, a milestone of a child or even an updated headshot.  Depending on the ages of your kids and your expectation of photos, mini sessions can be a great way to get those few pictures that you are looking for at a reasonable cost in short amount of time.

If you are wanting multiple outfit changes, a few different locations, or have kiddos that take a while to warm up to new people, a full session might be better for you and your family.

Also, mini sessions typically happen in the location that the photographer chooses.  (This is true of myself) and there are multiple families coming to that one location every 30 minutes for the day.

If you are wanting to choose your own location or have the photographer come to your home to capture more of your family in their element, my suggestion would be to do a full session.

Mini sessions can be a wonderful thing, and many of my clients rave about how quick they are especially when they have little people.  Husbands love them as well because they appease their wives and 25 minutes goes by when they are having fun and playing with their kids and of course, kissing their wives!

If you are interested in a full or mini session, I’d love to chat.  I am offering five different mini session dates and just added a few more times and one other date to the calendar!  See this LINK to see what is still available!

St. Louis Park Newborn Session:: Merry Family

Last year I had the high honor of meeting Liz and her sweet family.  When she contacted me earlier this summer,  I knew we would have another great session when she told me they would be welcoming another sweet little one into their family.  Their sweet little boy was a gem during our session.  He let his big brother and sister kiss him all over and even slept through most of the time we needed him sleeping!  I love seeing these new little ones, and old clients at the same time.  If you are looking to book a newborn session, I would love to meet you and your newest addition. Be sure to check out these tips on how to prep for your session and then contact me for more information and availability!

I LOVE Mastin Presets for Lightroom.  When I edit my photos, these are the presets I typically use for making my photos look a bit more creamy and film like, and I would highly recommend them.  Today I’m sharing with a quick tutorial on how I do a quick edit using these amazing presets.  If you are interested in purchasing Mastin Presets, head on over to their link to check them out!
