The Links at Northfolk Wedding:: Emily and Jackson

When she began her job as a youth pastor at a church, Emily never thought that she would meet the man that she was going to marry there.  One day the church maintenance man, Roger, called Emily down to his office.  Upon arriving, she found Roger at his desk with their church directory open. “Emily,” he said, “I found you a man” and pointed at Jackson’s photo.

She looked over at the photo of Jackson and wasn’t too sure.  The photo had been taken a few years earlier and Jackson looked younger than her.  But Roger knew Jackson and his family personally, and Emily had a good relationship with Roger that she trusted him.  She smiled and said, why not and a week later she received a call from Jackson asking her out to Mexican food.  After five hours of talking, they closed the place down, and a fabulous relationship began.

A few years later the two decided to plan a weekend trip to Nashville instead of giving one another Christmas gifts.  Because they both love quality time and the outdoors, it was a perfect place and gift for one another.  On the final day of the trip, they headed out for a hike at Greeter Falls.  When they got to the bottom of the falls, much to Emily’s surprise, Jackson got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.  It was the easiest yes she had ever said and the two began planning their October wedding.

Emily’s off the shoulder Allure ball gown dress from Posh was perfectly paired with the ornate blooms that Maureen DeBruyn created to fit the day. Laura Westream Artistry and her team did hair and make up for the women while the burgundy Adrianna Papellbridesmaid dresses stood out beautifully against the fall color.Their October wedding day was beautiful.  After so many days of rain and gloom, the sun finally broke though and provided a glorious, brisk autumn day.  The two decided to get ready in the homes they grew up with their close families and friends and did their first look at a park nearby that was full of beautiful glowing yellows.The groomsmen wore black suits purchased from Milbern Clothing.Emily wore the earrings and necklace that her own mother wore in her wedding, and also incorporated a broach that belonged to her great-grandmother as a hairpiece.  Her mother also hand made the veil that she work for the day while the couple both wore rings from James Allen.Nothing Bundt Cakes brought in a tasty fall cake for the bridal party and Wells Catering provided a meal for guests.The Covers tore down the house while guests danced the night away and Bliss wedding video capture the day on film for the couple to see.

Emily and Jackson, I cannot thank you enough for including me in your amazing day.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you are an incredible couple and I hope Hawaii is treating you well!

    I love seeing the Williams family year to year and this year they met me at a park in Edina for their family session.  We played, laughed, photo bombed and even got some photos in while we were at it!  I am so very thankful to see them every year and look forward to watching them grow over the years!

      Edina Family Session:: The Schroeder Family

      Do you have those friends that you just love seeing?  I wish Lauren and I got to see more of each other though out the year, but when we do it is always a fun time.  And this time around it was no different.  Her sweet family met me with giant hugs and waves and joy as we started their session together.  I have been photographing this couple since they were engaged and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!  They are a sweet gift and I am so thankful for them!

          Wedding Hack:: Tip 1

          Well I thought I would start a new series of hacks built around a wedding day.  Today I am sharing a tip I recieved from another friend and photographer, Gina, on bringing in command hooks to hang the dress on wedding days where a place to hang the dress simply can’t be found!

          These Command hooks are a cheap and easy way to hang a dress where light is optimal and there is no place to hang up a dress.  In this situation, I found a choir room surrounded by windows and hung the dress around 3 of them.  It worked beautifully and I was able to get the shot and the look I was wanting!

          Have a wedding hack and want to share it?  I would love to hear from you and share that hack here! But for today, thank you 3M, and Command hooks, for making my job even easier!
