New (FREE) Actions

To most people this may be a really boring post, but for those of you who are photographers (or those of you that just like to pretend you are), this post is for you!  For those raising your eyebrows and just wondering, what the heck is an action, let me help.

The process the photo goes though before reaching a client’s wall can actually take a many steps in Photoshop or Lightroom or whatever editing system the photographer decides to use.  This can be an extremely long process especially when going though thousands of images.  Changing the contrast, the brightness, the color or the sharpness of a photo are all things that are looked at.  Because time is something we would all like more of, actions can be used.  These are the strenuous steps made simple of creating an image the way that it was envisioned on the day of the shoot and can save hours of time!

Because I am constantly looking for actions, and ways to make my time more time-efficient, I wanted to share a site that brought me more actions, and even better, they were FREE.  Check out Pure Photoshop Actions for a few more days.  Like them on Facebook and get your set.  Happy editing!

Here is one of my favorite little toddlers from a session last year.  Action names are below.

Going from left to right:

1) Photo shot out of Camera  2) Golden Sunset 3) Easy Peasy BW baby 4) Lookin Sharp  5)  No Ordinary Slumber  6) Pure Pink 7) Pure Pop  8) Warm and Soft Light

    Jim and Jennifer: Minneapolis engagement

It started with a concert.  He asked and she obliged.  Jim and Jennifer hit it off right away and they were like old friends.  Christmas came and Jim popped the question.  Jennifer was so surprised and of course said yes!  Jim has a history of hockey (he played for the Gophers for a short season), so we took to the ice for their engagement session.  I could tell what great friends these two were, and they were such a joy to be around! The two are planning a June wedding and I am so excited to work with this great, laid back couple!

      Pratt Children

Twice the fun.  Double trouble.  Twin one, Twin two.  Whatever the phrase, I am sure it is said often of twins.  And I am sure that Kirstjen and Josh have heard it!  I have had the amazing opportunity of photographing Josh and Kirstjen for years.  From their wedding in Stillwater, to the birth of their first little guy, to photographing a sisters wedding in NY, to now recording these two sweet bundles delivered at the end of January.  I can not say enough about what a good mother Kirstjen is and will be to these little guys, but what is not to love about these sweet faces!

I loved photographing all three boys together, and LOVED the expressions Shane was giving the camera.

Yes!  Bribes work well when photographing,  toddlers!  I couldn’t help but get this last one of the boys together with Shane’s lolly-pop!

        Doug and Lori; Minneapolis wedding

The day couldn’t have been more perfect.  After months of planning, Lori’s winter wonderland wedding had come.  A slight dusting of snow covered the ground in white in the morning and as the day progressed, it let up to be a spectacular afternoon to shoot in.  Doug and Lori are a couple full of laughs, love and a shared passion for Twins baseball. They hold season tickets to all the games and early last spring Doug took Lori to a quiet undisturbed area of the stadium and got down on one knee to pop the question.  The baseball theme was carried on through the planning stages with a save the date baseball card and a cake topper and Twins themed garter.  I had a fabulous time working with this group, thank you Lori and Doug for allowing me to be a part of your day!
