Jessica and Bryan 10.24.09

I had the wonderful privilege of being a second shooter for my very good friend Kate at Jessica and Bryan’s beautiful fall wedding.  It is always fun for me to be able to look at a couple from a different angle and be able to see some of the details that I would not otherwise see.

They were such an awesome couple and so laid back.  We had a fabulous day for shooting, and props to them for doing most of the pre-wedding photos outside.  Being from CA, I think they were a little taken aback with the crispness of the fall.  But they endured and were beautiful through it all!

Grandpa on his pipe, I love it.  You don’t get to see many of these anymore.

Here’s Kate at her best.  She was a Rockstar!  Thanks again for letting me be a part of the day!  I am always inspired and amazed to be around people that love what I do and are totally passionate about not only the field, but the people!

The Hedin Family

I shot Paul and Amber’s wedding over 3 years ago, and one of the things I loved about them was the fact that they gave me free reign to do whatever I wanted and how I wanted.  They just wanted the best possible photos I could give them.  When Amber asked if I’d be willing to do their photos again, adding their newest addition, I was super pumped to be able to think around the box  and use their oh-so-delicious son, ( who was BTW one of the most happy babies that I have photographed this season!)  We let the little guy lose on his new walking legs and just chased him around Elm Creek Park reserve in Maple Grove.  We had a great time together just beat out the rain for another day this week!

    7 years?!

So I have long passed the date of our anniversary (Sept 28th), mostly because we have been so swamped around our home.  Me in the midst of fall photo shoots and Kevin in the middle of continuing all his pastoral responsibilities and starting up the new school year, and then adding the 3 kids in the mix! It’s hard to believe that the day has come and gone already!

Thankfully we were able to take a 3 day retreat away to the North Shore to do some long awaited hiking and exploring without the kids and to just have time alone.  Little did we know that the weekend would be one of the craziest that we have experienced yet!  We headed out on Sunday.  Monday, our actual anniversary day started out pleasant, but as the day progressed, so did the wind and the cold.  After a wonderful breakfast at one of our favorite cafe’s we headed out to the Temperence River to do some hiking.  As we were hiking we noted how strong the wind was and then heard the first crack of one of the birch trees falling into the river.  Kev turned to me and said “We better be careful, who know where the next one will go.”  Just as he was turning, a big white Birch chunk came flying at us.  It was all we could do to run as fast as we could the rest of the way back to the trail head.  Needless to say, we were not injured, and hiking was put out for the rest of the day, as was the electricity and the whole town which SHUT DOWN.  It was all we could do to scramble to a road house to get some dinner in before their electricity went out too!  We headed back to our rustic cabin in the woods, hoping and praying that it would not fall in on us as we slept in the cold (our electricticy was out too!)

Thankfully it did not, and we both had to laugh about the entire experience.  Just another one to add to the many that we have been blessed to have together.  I only pray that the Lord would give us many, many more as we continue to live this life together.SN851481

What a fun story… probably not at the time of running to save your lives from the flying birch trees but of course good memories being together. CONGRATS on your 7 years! 🙂 Ya’ll have created a beautiful family and are certainly using the talents and gifts God blessed you with! 🙂 Miss seeing you guys!

    The Holmquist Extended Family

It’s always good to be referred to a mom!  I shot Heather and Mike’s family photos in August (see HERE) and after her mother Debbie saw them, she called to make a family session for their entire family.  We had a great time tromping around Como Park, they were all such fun to work with.  Here is just a small taste of what we did throughout the day!
