The Melling family

Elena is not only my good friend, but my wonderful wedding assistant.  We have been working together for over 2 years, into our 3rd wedding season.  She is an amazing photographer and wonderful mother.  We often chat about how different we would do our weddings after seeing the multitudes of different weddings we shoot.  I think one day we’ll get gutsy enough to put on our dresses again and rope our husbands into a round 2 wedding shoot.  Until then, we’ll just have to get our family in their elements!  Here are the makings of a wonderful night and family!melling col 1melling 14melling 18melling 13melling 17melling 16melling 15melling 12melling 9melling 5melling 10melling col 2

    The Schroeder Family

    There is no other time in Minnesota that the light looks as it does in these next 2 months, golden and beautiful!  The Schroeder family got one of the best nights yet for their family photo.  Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder will be celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, so Judy called for a celebration of photos!  I was totally up for the challenge of taking on these 6 kids!  They all did fabulous and the evening up beautifully.

    Nick and Caeli 08.21.09

    Calei is one of the sweetest girls I have ever met.  I think Nick knew just how lucky he was when he couldn’t wipe the smile from his face!  We started the day off by doing some getting ready photos at the church which was then followed by the mass .  After the ceremony, we headed out on a trolley around the lakes to the Lake Harriet rose gardens, where we all just kicked back and had a great time.  Edina Country Club hosted the party that followed.  Martha, Caeli’s mother, did not miss a detail by incorporating daisy’s that Caeli loves, crates that Nick’s family makes and sells, t-shirts with the couple’s names and wedding date as favors, and apples as place cards.  It was a photographer’s haven!  Thank you to both of you and your families.  I felt so much like a friend invited to the wedding.  Your love emanates to all those around you.

      The Stromberg Family

      Stephanie and I went to high school together over 10 years ago!  About a month ago she e-mailed to find out if I had a time to schedule their family session because her father had just recently been diagnosed with cancer.  wood 11wood 10wood 4wood 9wood 8wood 7wood 3wood 2wood 5wood 6wood 1

      We were able to get through almost the entire shoot without any tears, but as her father was cracking jokes left and right, Steph’s mom just put an arm around her husband, and they fell.  Thank you for allowing me this small window into a huge part of your world. wood 12

      James and Kelsey 08.15.09

      I have been overly blessed and taken care of by all my brides and grooms this season.  Kelsey and James were no exception.  I felt like a life-long friend of the couple’s by the way they made sure that I was included.  They went above and beyond a photographer’s dream, by whipping out the golf clubs and the basketball.  I didn’t realize how competitive they both were until we hit up the “court” and they did a face off with Kelsey’s dad, and former coach playing ref!  You are both a beautiful sight!       I have to make this side note; I just about cried when I saw Kelsey’s dress; ok more like squealed because it was SO beautiful!  I am a HUGE fan of bows (my sister totally makes fun of me for it) but the bow, she just added for an extra touch, and it fit her style!
