Edina Newborn Session:: Maddie

A cactus themed nursery? Yes PLEASE!

What a joy it was meeting Natalie, Mitch and sweet Maddie, and of course Hank their 2 year old pooch! I simply could not get enough of their beautifully themed nursery. There were so many personal touches that made it incredible. Everything from the wooden name plate above Maddie’s crib to the cacti that were crocheted by Mitch’s mother and the mobile that both Natalie and Mitch made while waiting on Maddie’s arrival.

Maddie was the sweetest! Born with a full head of hair and just perfect skin, she was a joy to photograph. Hank lovingly protected her throughout the session and we had to include some of Natalie’s favorite flowers, and mine too, peonies.

What a beautiful day and beautiful family! Congratulations to you all!

    July Favorites

If you know me at all, you know I love summer and more specifically the month of July. Why you ask… well five reasons

    1. The heat! Yes, I am one of those crazy people who just likes the heat and even the humidity.
    2. The fourth of July. As a child, all my extended family lived out of state, so over the 4th of July we all reunited every year. It was a joyous celebration and I remember the days where my uncle would play his clarinet in the band of the small town my did grew up in. From there we would watch fireworks while my grandma sang showtunes and all the patriotic songs as fireworks sailed in the sky. It is such a good memory I have and I love spending time with our extended family and friends.
    3. Camp! Are you sensing my nostalgia? I love returning to the camp I grew up going to! This year I get to volunteer when my own kids return for a week. I’m not sure as an adult if I love it as much as I did when I was a kid, but I am so thrilled they get to go.
    4. Nights on the deck. Can you say 75 and soft breezes? I am loving these nights. My husband and I have been spending about 30 minutes each night connecting and locking ourselves away from our kids. We have even had a games and evenings of long dinners out there.
    5. Visiting friends. Even though the end of my month kicks off my busy season, (yes, from now every weekend until the second week of November is booked) I have been so thankful for a few Saturday’s off and visiting friends in and out of state. What a joy the summer brings especially for us living in the mid-west.

Michelle and Chris:: Lyndale Park Engagement Session

It was Labor Day weekend. Because Michelle works in healthcare, she had been working all weekend and was tired. She arrived home to find a steak and potato dinner waiting for her, her favorite. After the two had completed dinner, Chris brought out a box of chocolates that he presented to her. Michelle opened it to find one of the chocolates missing and a ring in it’s place.

From there, Chris asked her to be his wife and a surprised Michelle responded yes. A limo was waiting outside for the both of them that Chris had arranged for and the two spent the rest of the evening celebrating and visiting family in person and telling them their happy news.

What a joy it was to spend a beautiful summer morning with the two of them. We wandered around the beautiful Lyndale Park in Minneapolis and even made it into the lake for a few photos!

Chris and Michelle, I can’t wait for your wedding day!!

Refuge Golf Course Wedding:: Andrea and Jesse

Andrea and Jesse grew up one block away from each other. While they were always close friends, they also had the feeling that in some way shape or form, the two would end up spending the rest of their lives together. Eventually the two began dating and today was the day they said I do to one another!

Ninety degrees and humidity was predicted for their outdoor wedding, so the ceremony was moved indoors. Despite the heat, we took advantage of the beautiful summer day and wandered around the Refuge Golf Course for photos of Andrea and Jesse and their wedding party. All of them were such a joy to be with and so easy to photograph. I felt like we had all been friends for years!

Custom Floral Designs transformed the venue into the “rustic, outdoor feel” Andrea was hoping for which made the space beautiful. The sunset for the evening was spectacular and before heading back to the reception to dance the night away, we wandered the empty golf course for some photos of Jesse and Andrea alone. It was so fun to get away and celebrate the happy couple with their closest of friends!

Jesse and Andrea, it was a beautiful day to celebrate with you! Many blessings in the days ahead!

Maple Grove Family Session:: Emerson Family

At a wedding this past fall, I sat at the same table as Sarah and Matt. We chatted and actually had a great conversation between toasts, dancing and wedding photos. So when she contacted me to do a family session, I was thrilled. Her kids were so willing to try anything, running up and down hills, laying in the grass and spinning in circles. What a blast I had seeing all of them!
