Gold Metal Park Engagement Session :: Minneapolis, MN

Fall in Minneapolis brings a magical blend of golden hues, crisp air, and the promise of new beginnings. For Katie and Nick, this season marked a significant step in their journey together as they embarked on their urban engagement session, setting the stage for their upcoming wedding at 7 Vines Vineyard this June.

Our adventure began at Gold Medal Park, a picturesque spot nestled in the heart of Minneapolis. As the leaves danced in the autumn breeze, Katie and Nick arrived with their furry companion, a playful pup who added an extra touch of joy to the day. Decked in a cute sign announcing their engagement, the pup stole the show and served as a delightful herald of their love story.

We ventured through the park on a beautiful evening and utilized the bak of the Guthrie Theater as well as Mill Ruins Park and the Stone Arch bridge.

As the sun began its descent, casting a warm glow over the city, we ventured to a Minneapolis parking lot with a breathtaking view. The skyline stretched before us, a tapestry of urban lights and architectural wonders. Against this mesmerizing backdrop, Katie and Nick shared intimate moments, lost in each other’s eyes with the city as their witness.

The juxtaposition of nature and urbanity in their session mirrored the blend of their personalities – adventurous yet grounded, modern yet timeless. Every photograph captured the essence of their love story, a narrative of two souls intertwining amidst the vibrant pulse of the city.

Now, as their wedding day approaches, I find myself eagerly anticipating the opportunity to document the next chapter of their journey. Their summer wedding at 7 Vines Vineyard promises to be a celebration of love, laughter, and cherished moments. From the urban landscapes of Minneapolis to the rustic charm of the vineyard, Katie and Nick’s love story continues to unfold in a tapestry of beauty and joy.

Minnehaha Falls Engagement :: Minneapolis, MN

As the golden hour descended upon Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, Mariah and Jack found themselves enveloped in a moment that whispered promises of forever. Their early spring engagement session was not just a celebration of their love, but a testament to the beautiful journey that brought them together.

Their love story began at Lakeville North High School, where the two both attended. One evening as the two were both attending a concert at The Garage in Burnsville with mutual friends, Mariah accidentally caught Jack’s eye and sparked the first flicker of connection as they both were singing Britney Spears’ iconic “Baby One More Time”. After the song ended the two laughed and Mariah took the first step to introduce herself to Jack.

The magic continued to weave its spell during a memorable vacation in Lake of the Woods, Canada. Jack, with a carefully crafted plan, whisked Mariah away to Wickhem’s Island, a small island that has been in Jack’s family for generations. Under the guise of a family photoshoot, Jack led Mariah to the island, where suspicions of a proposal danced in her mind. Yet, it was Jack’s borrowed shirt from his brother that he wore for “photos” that threw her off the scent. It wasn’t until he knelt down on one knee on the island that Mariah knew her suspicions were correct, and she was overjoyed.

Fast forward to the present, where the warm hues of the golden hour mirrored the glow of their love at Minnehaha Falls. Against the backdrop of cascading waterfalls and nature’s spring buds, their engagement session captured the essence of their journey—from chance encounters to cherished moments that led to this chapter of commitment.

Looking ahead, their love story unfolds with promises of a mid-June wedding at the enchanting Little Log House Pioneer Village in Hastings. Surrounded by history and rustic charm, their union promises to be nothing short of spectacular, a culmination of love’s journey against the backdrop of time-honored traditions and cherished beginnings.

I can’t wait to celebrate with them in just a few short weeks!! Congratulations!

Lyndale Rose Garden :: Engagement Session

As the mist gently embraced the Lyndale Rose Garden and Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, Haley and Ethan’s love story unfolded amidst a dreamy setting that seemed straight out of a fairytale. Their spring engagement session, planned on a foggy day, turned out to be a stroke of brilliance as the mist added a romantic aura, softening the colors and creating an almost magical backdrop for their photoshoot.

One of the most enchanting elements of their session was the picturesque picnic for two set up by Perfect Picture Company in Minneapolis. Nestled amidst the blooming flowers and lush greenery, the scene was perfect for the occasion. A charming small dining table adorned with delicate linens awaited them, accompanied by a plush rug and soft cushions that ensured comfort and coziness. Chic boho decor elements added a touch of whimsy, while candles flickered, casting a warm and inviting glow. Fresh roses and hydrangeas, carefully arranged, added bursts of pinks and whites. Complete table settings, including napkins and cutlery, were meticulously arranged to perfection.

It wasn’t just the visual feast that delighted Haley and Ethan; the culinary delights were equally enticing. They indulged in a Small Charcuterie Platter, offering an assortment of cheeses, cured meats, fruits, and nuts, creating a perfect blend of flavors. Macarons and a small cake added a sweet note to their picnic, satisfying their cravings with every bite.

Haley looked radiant in a stunning green spring dress from Baltic Born, embodying the freshness and vibrancy of the season. Ethan complemented her perfectly in his dapper chambray long-sleeve shirt. The misty backdrop lent an enchanting atmosphere, accentuating their love and creating timeless moments captured through the lens.

It was a joy to spend the evening with them and I can not wait to see them again for their May wedding at Hidden Greens!

Saint Lucia Beach Session :: St. Lucia, Virgin Islands

When Kelsey approached me about photographing her destination wedding I was floored. When she mentioned it was the Saint Lucia in the Virgin Islands, I just about peed my pants. And when she told me that it would be over the course of a few days at the incredible Sandals La Toc Resort, I could not stop myself from starting to pack my bags!

From the first conversation, I knew I would love Kelsey and Brian. Over the course of a week, I was able to spend some time on this beautiful island as well as photograph them in so many incredible places.

Because I was not able to have an engagement session with them in Minnesota, we decided on a sunrise session on the beach. We explored the places on the 220 acre resort that we could not utilize on their wedding day and began the session just as the sun was peeking through the clouds. We walked along the beautiful shoreline of golden sand and then into the crystal turquoise waters. Kelsey and Brian ended their session in matching flamingo suits while the waves crashed against them.

It was such a magical session and one that I am SO glad they were up for! Kelsey and Brian, thank you for an incredible week. More photos to come!!

Minneapolis Engagement Session :: Minneapolis, MN

It’s finally beginning to look like spring in the midwest. The trees are budding, the sun is shining, and the birds are back singing their beautiful melodies. With the spring, engagement and wedding season is upon us and what a joy it was to be able to visit with this incredible couple. Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee and La Crosse, Wisconsin, this sweet couple made their way up to Minneapolis for their beautiful engagement session.

Beautiful blue skies and an eighty degree day were upon us. We planned to meet right out front of Aster cafe near St. Anthony and Main to chat about what they wanted and then made our way past the Pillsbury building for some urban shots and then walked over to the iconic Stone Arch Bridge where it was free of people for a few short minutes. The sun glistened as we walked and talked about their May wedding at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul.

The session ended as we celebrated a graduation and a new marriage about to begin. I simply can not wait to see this sweet couple again in a few weeks for their beautiful wedding day!
