closeIn the middle of snow and cold, I’m taking you back today with an engagement session from a warm fall day! Tom and Calen chose a neutral location in a park near her parents home to enjoy the beautiful fall color as well as enjoy the warmth of the day! Because both Tom and Calen love the lakes, we wanted to make sure to be around water and capture them enjoying it! I can not wait for their September wedding day and only hope it is this beautiful!
There are so many sweet sessions I have not yet blogged since fall came and went in the blink of an eye! I am now just looking back at sessions like Caroline and Dave’s and remembering how beautiful the fall weather was and how many couples and families I was able to photograph.
Caroline contacted me asking for an engagement session in the Minneapolis area. Because they will be married on the west coast, and Dave is always traveling for work, they had to find a central location for photos on a day both of them were off work. Mid October worked perfectly, as did a location near the airport at a park they often walk around when Dave is in Minneapolis. They brought along their favorite game to incorporate, as well as the box that held Dave’s Grandma’s engagement ring which he had refinished when he proposed to Caroline. I loved getting to know this kind couple, and wish them all the best next summer when they get married.

They officially met on New Year’s Eve, but were both dating different people. At that time they struck up a conversation and talked into the night as friends assuming they would never again see each other. The following New Year’s Eve, the two saw each other AGAIN at another party but this time both had ended their relationships and were now single. Throughout the night as they reconnected and talked, both knew that this might be a relationship that might go somewhere. As the hours got later and later, midnight struck and Jenni did something Ryan would never forget. Right then and there in the middle of all the other couples, Jenni kissed him. At that moment, Ryan knew he could not let this girl get away again. They started dating not long after and on December 30th of this year, they will tie the knot to officially becomehusband and wife!
Their summer engagement session was filled with light, greens, the beautiful Lake Minnetonka as well as walking around one of their very favorite city, Excelsior. I look forward to their wedding day when I get to see this beautiful friendship become a marriage!
Being that their 2018 wedding will be on a farm, Jess and John decided they wanted to do their engagement session in the beautiful city of St. Paul. After dodging traffic from a Saints and Lynx game, we finally ended up meeting at Mears Park and then walking through the streets of St. Paul for photos! Hitting up Raspberry Island and the Fire Department John works at were other stops along the way! I simply can not wait to photograph these two next August, and hope for just as beautiful of a day as this one!
Spring soirée perfection.
Rob and Sarah’s wedding day was a beautiful blend of faith, family, and thoughtful design. Inspired by Monet’s garden paintings, their celebration was filled with soft spring colors, meaningful heirlooms, and intentional details at every turn.
After a joyful ceremony at Eagle Brook Church, surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated the night away at Silverwood Park with beautiful florals, heartfelt speeches, lakeside portraits, and dancing.
One of my favorite details? Sarah changed into her mother’s wedding dress for the reception, while flowers made from that same gown were sewn into her veil.
