Baby Kensie

I love babies.  Love the way they smell, love their teeniess, love the innocence, and even love the way they cry.  That is why I am in constant need of baby fixes.  One of my very good friends just had her first and she is so precious! beautifulteeny!  and just plain baby.  My favorite thing to do is to bless my friends with a session in the hospital when their baby is born.  Unfortunately this little peanut, had pneumonia after her momma’s 31?!!! hour labor, so guests were kept to a minimum.  She is doing much better and at 2 weeks I was able to capture her in her baby beauty.  Thanks, Erin and David for allowing me do her first shoot, I can’t wait to watch her grow.  Much love.

    The Meyers Family

Jeremy and I grew up together.  We met while I was in 5th grade and he in 4th.  Our families went to the same church.  I had 2 sisters and no brothers, and over time Jeremy became our “adopted brother.”  Even though we lived in different cities, we saw each other at least twice a week, if not more, as he hung out regularly at the Davis home.  As we grew up and graduated from high school, we still hung out; going on youth trips together as “counselors” (What a joke as we were only a few years older than the kids we were supposed to be mentoring),  hanging out together, me getting advise about guys from him and him receiving advise from me on girls.  Over time he met his amazing wife Elizabeth and Eva was born a few years after that.  This past weekend I had yet another chance to hang out with their family and do a session for them.  Being that we hadn’t seen each other in almost a year, and that I had just met his new son, we had to do coffee afterward, just to catch up.

One of the reasons I had not seen Jeremy for a year is because he is a soldier and was deployed during part of 2008.  We found this great tribute to the soldiers at the Coon Rapids Dam which fit their family perfectly.  (Elizabeth used to be on active duty too (as an officer), but is now retired!)

      The Sutkowski’s

I was able to photograph this beautiful family in May, but as Mackenna has grown, the photos need replacing!  (See Here for her 6 month photos.)  We toured around Elm Creek Park reserve and Mackenna had us all laughing, racing away from the camera and on to exploring the world around her.  Here are some snippets from the morning that we shared.

        The Cox kiddos

I photographed Coy and Melissa’s wedding almost 4 years ago and from there I have been able to be involved in some monumental moments in their lives.  I have been able to photograph their oldest, Caydon, at the different stages and now I was able to meet and photograph their newest little girl.  We met up at Melissa’s mom’s home and used the backyard and beautiful leaves to get some great moments of their every day lives.I can’t wait to do more as these little one’s grow!

          The Smith extended family

I almost thought of throwing up a photo from 1992 when my 2 BFF’s from 6th grade and I were doing what we called our “modeling shoots.”  This mainly consisted of throwing our most recently purchased clothes on and then photographing each other with our 110 mm camera’s!  (Maybe those days made me a photographer?!)  Whatever the case may be, I have spent many a day with this beautiful family.  They saw me through my grade school years as a Brownie in Girl Scouts, to my very ugly adolescent years ( remember those hideous red glasses? ) up until we  graduated high school together.  Cassie and I were able to stay in contact a bit through college, but life eventually got busy and we just recently reconnected this past summer to have our kids play together.  It was just one of those cool circle of life things.  Crazy that we were playing together in kindergarten and then to have OUR kiddos playing together at almost the same age we were when we met was almost surreal for me!

Many years passed and I STILL laughed a lot with the Smith family.  smith 1My second set of parents while growing up.smith 9
