Senior Session Spotlight: Abbie in Downtown Wayzata

Abbie’s senior photo session in downtown Wayzata was absolutely perfect. The weather couldn’t have been better—sunny skies, a soft breeze off Lake Minnetonka, and golden hour light that made every shot glow. It felt like the whole evening was designed just for her.

Wayzata gave us so many different looks to match Abbie’s joyful personality. We started near the docks and boats, capturing the peaceful beauty of the water. Then we explored urban textures, colorful flowers, Wayzata Beach, and quiet streets filled with character. As the sun dipped lower, we moved to a field full of wildflowers, where the sunset lit up the sky in shades of gold and pink. Every setting showed a new side of Abbie—fun, radiant, and full of life.

Abbie is heading into her senior year at Stewartville High School as part of the Class of 2026, and she’s truly one of a kind. She’s a dedicated volleyball player, involved in her school’s choir, and runs track with heart and determination. On top of that, her faith is incredibly important to her and shines through in the way she treats others. Abbie has that rare ability to connect with all kinds of people, and she’s someone everyone enjoys being around—friends, teammates, teachers—you name it.

This senior year is going to be amazing for her, and this session felt like the perfect celebration of everything she’s accomplished and all that’s ahead.

If you’ve never spent time in Wayzata, Minnesota, it’s the perfect place for a photo session or just a lakeside stroll. From charming shops to lakeshore views, it was the ideal location to highlight Abbie’s fun, vibrant energy.

      Noelle :: Class of 2024

      I’m so excited to share the story of Noelle, a dear client who just graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota! Noelle’s journey is truly inspiring, especially considering her high school experience in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic turned everything upside down. Despite the challenges, she found a wonderful way to create lasting memories with a stunning photoshoot at Arneson Acres Park in Edina, MN.

      Noelle’s high school graduation was anything but typical. The Class of 2020 faced so many obstacles, including the cancellation of senior year traditions and events. Among the many things they missed out on were senior photos, a milestone for so many graduates. Determined to make up for this, Noelle decided to celebrate her college graduation with a special photoshoot.

      We chose Arneson Acres Park in Edina for the setting, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The park is known for its lush gardens and beautiful landscapes, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop that complemented Noelle’s radiant personality and accomplishments.

      The photoshoot was a beautiful blend of tradition and modern elegance. In some of the photos, Noelle proudly wore her cap and gown, symbolizing all her hard work and dedication over the years. These images captured the pride and joy of completing her degree at Gustavus Adolphus College, marking a significant milestone in her life.

      The timing of the photoshoot was everything. As the sun began to set, Arneson Acres Park was bathed in the enchanting glow of the golden hour. This magical time of day, when the sunlight is soft and warm, added a dreamy quality to the photos. The golden hues enhanced the natural beauty of the park and created a stunning contrast with Noelle’s white dress and cap and gown.

      I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Noelle on her graduation from Gustavus Adolphus College. Her journey from high school during the pandemic to college graduation is a story of resilience and triumph. By choosing to commemorate her achievement with a photoshoot at Arneson Acres Park, Noelle has created beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

      Noelle’s story is a reminder that even in the face of challenges, it’s possible to find joy and celebrate milestones in meaningful ways. I wish her all the best in her future endeavors and look forward to seeing all the wonderful things she will accomplish.

        As the spring season brings warmth and renewal, it also brings the celebration of new beginnings. For Hannah, a dedicated and vibrant senior at St. Michael High School, this spring marks the culmination of her high school journey and the start of exciting new adventures. Graduating in just a few days, Hannah’s senior session was a perfect blend of her passions, her cherished furry friends, and the scenic beauty of Minneapolis.

Her dedication to the performing arts has not only showcased her talent but also shaped her high school experience, providing her with invaluable skills and cherished memories. From starring in school productions to being a supportive team player backstage, Hannah’s passion for theater has been a cornerstone of her high school journey.

        Hannah’s love for pups is well-known among her friends and family, so it was only fitting that her beloved golden doodle and bernadoodle joined her for this memorable session. Their playful energy and affectionate natures brought extra joy to the day, making the session as much about celebrating their bond as it was about marking Hannah’s academic achievements.

        The senior session began with a picturesque walk around St. Anthony/Main in Minneapolis. Our journey took us from the iconic Stone Arch Bridge to the historic Mill City and over to the Guthrie Theater. The Stone Arch Bridge, with its stunning views of the Mississippi River and the Minneapolis skyline, provided a breathtaking setting that beautifully contrasted with the rustic charm of Mill City. Each location added a unique flavor to the session, reflecting different aspects of Hannah’s personality and her journey through high school.

        As the evening drew to a close, we found a perfect spot overlooking the city. The view was nothing short of spectacular, with the twinkling lights of Minneapolis providing a magical backdrop. It was a serene and fitting end to a day filled with joy.

          Maylee :: Class of 2024

          As a photographer, one of the greatest joys is watching the people I photograph grow and thrive over the years. This summer, I had the immense pleasure of photographing Maylee, a 2024 graduate of Ottawa High School in Ottawa, Kansas, who traveled all the way to Minneapolis for her senior session. Our paths first crossed at Stacy and Tyler’s wedding at the American Swedish Institute, where Maylee was a junior bridesmaid in the wedding. From that magical night, filled with laughter, dancing, and unforgettable moments, we formed a connection that has lasted through the years.

          Maylee’s senior session was a beautiful experience, filled with the vibrant energy she brings to everything she does. Her radiant smile and infectious enthusiasm made every shot a celebration of her journey and her bright future. It was a poignant reminder of how far she has come since that delightful evening at Stacy and Tyler’s wedding.

          Throughout her high school years, Maylee has been an exemplary student and an active member of the school community. Her dedication to volleyball has been particularly impressive. As a key player for Ottawa High School’s volleyball team, she has demonstrated remarkable skill, leadership, and teamwork. Her passion for the sport is evident in every game she plays, and it’s clear that she has a bright future ahead, both on and off the court.

          Reflecting on our session, I am filled with admiration for Maylee’s journey. Traveling from Kansas to Minneapolis for her senior photos was a testament to her adventurous spirit and her commitment to capturing this milestone in a meaningful way. We explored much of the beautiful Lyndale Park near Lake Harriet as well as the lake and bandshell. On one of the warmest days of the summer, she was full of energy and spunk and ready to try anything I asked of her!

          Maylee, congratulations on your graduation! Here’s to the wonderful adventures that await you. Keep shining bright and never lose that incredible spark that makes you so special. Your future is undoubtedly as vibrant and promising as your smile.

          To many more milestones and memories, cheers!
