Vintage tea and MOMS

Throughout the past five years, I have been a part of an amazing ministry at Bethlehem Baptist church (Web-site HERE) which caters to Mom’s of all ages in making our mothering significant (thus MOMS).  It is also a wonderful time to connect with women, and having a break to encourage and fellowship with one another.  Every other Tuesday, a new speaker will come in and speak to us of all topics ranging from growing our marriages, raising our children, to serving one another.

At the end of the year, the entire group of mom’s puts on a tea.  This year the theme was “Vintage.”  Each woman used her gift to make the tea wonderful.  This is just a taste of the end of the year event.   It was so beautiful and awe-inspiring.  I was so blessed and soaked in every minute of the 2 hours!

There were so many details and ways the Vintage theme was played out.

Vintage aprons lined the exterior of the fellowship hall.

Old fashioned candy was our favor to take home, SO CUTE!!

Tables were decorated with flowers and fruit and even the dinnerware was from a woman’s grandmother.

We were encouraged to wear vintage aprons and the area where we met was fabulously decorated!

Our leaders for the year, Jen and Rachel, reading out of a 1950’s home ec book on how to treat our husbands.  I seriously laughed; one of the “rules” was to always wear make up and to never let your husband catch you with bad breath… um that never happens at my house….

…and then how to properly pour tea.

The brains behind the decoration, Becky (middle) who was seriously amazing and obviously trying to run away from me as I was trying to take her photo because she was so busy.

If you are in need of any idea for a vintage themed shower, wedding, or any other event, she is a woman with immense creativity and skills and one to go to for ideas.  Call her, and then call me, because I would LOVE to photograph it!

The wonderful ladies at my table who have encouraged me throughout the past 2 years.  We have seen new babies come into the group and are now seeing mommies leave for the next stage of life that God is bringing them to.  I have been truly blessed and am so thankful for their wisdom in mothering as well as the many other speakers and women who are truly trying to make their mothering significant.  Thank you!

Generations and more

I was able to photograph Shannon’s beautiful little girl in February ( see HERE) and she booked me for another session, which was like a 3 in 1 session.  1)  To capture Alison’s 6 month photos 2) as a generation photo and 3) Alison and her mom and dad!  We did it all within an hour and Alison was smiling the entire time, she was a wonderful little baby!  Thanks for allowing me in on your beautiful family.

Happy birthday Ben

So yes, I will admit, I am so behind on posting photos of my kids.  But as a promise, I am posting more!  For Ben’s first birthday (in November;  yes I know it is almost May!) We did the cake and the boy demolished the piece that we gave him.  One of the huge differences that we have already seen is the way boys and girls do things.  Both girls picked carefully at their cake until they realized what it was.  Not Ben, he went full force into the thing and devoured it, every last piece!

Hope this ends your week off well.  I am back from vacation tomorrow and can NOT wait to post photos from the wedding.  A sneak peek to arrive on Thursday!!

I feel the same way about cake, you know Ben…

Easter, a bit late

So we did celebrate Easter, with eggs and all… 2 weeks ago!  While taking these I thought, “I have to post these on Monday so I will feel on top of everything.”  Did that happen, no… Oh well, I am still posting them!

I took these photos of the kids after the whole process of looking good and egg hunting was over.  I have to say this is the norm around our house after a busy Sunday.  We were all just relaxing and of course, the girls’ hair is a mess, but all natural!  Have a great weekend!

    Happy Tuesday

I am realizing that I have not been posting photos of my kids.  last week I went to a PPA meeting and the speaker said it correctly:  Sometimes as photographers we get bombarded with statements like “Wow, I bet you take so many photos of your kids”, or “I bet you have so many photos hanging all over your house.”  I resonated with her because I do get this a lot (don’t feel bad if you have asked me!) but the answer to both of these statements is, no, actually I wish I had more!  So, this moth I am challenging myself to be more pro-active in taking more photos of my kids.  And if I am telling you, oh internet, then I will be taking more of my kids and sharing more of my life experience with you!

Here is one of Ben from this past winter.  One of those days we just needed to get out of the house. Gotta love the ball-pits!

Becoming an entrepreneur wasn’t easy. It took a lot of hard work in understanding what I wasn’t good at before understanding what I was good at. I failed a lot in the process.
.
We often only see the good things and success stories on social media, but getting to the point where we are confident in ourselves and our work takes time and lots of failures. Trust me. 25 years and still working at it!!
